What a Time to Fall in Love...
Who: Cassie and Andrew
When: Thursday Afternoon, Dec. 3rd
Where: Shooting Star Comics
Right now, Andrew was doing some shelving for some DnD books in the back and musing to himself. He finally realized that he had feelings for someone, but there were so many obstacles in the way of telling her about it that he could barely wrap his mind around it. So many logistical and other problems that it sort of made his head spin and want to pop off. He sort of wanted to talk to someone about it, but he wasn't sure what others would think about who he had finally picked as well. This distraction finally caused him to drop a box of books square on his foot after tripping on a roll in the carpet, causing him to swear very, very loudly.
"You know... You swearing is like the real-life equivalent of Optimus Prime & Megatron both dying ten minutes into the Transformers movie: totally shocking and unexpected." Cassie was standing behind him now, trying to help pick up the books he'd dropped. "Soon you'll be drinking and smoking, and getting thrown in jail..."
"Heh, try dropping a box of books on your foot and see what sunny words come out of your mouth," Andrew joked, bending down to pick up the books as well. Luckily for his salary, they weren't damaged. "I'm just a little distracted is all."
"See, this is where I get to be the concerned friend and say things like 'hmmm', and 'tell me what's bothering you'." The little blonde grinned wryly, crossing her arms. "So spill."
OK, well, here was someone that he could actually talk to. "Do you think it's too soon for me to have any sort of feelings for someone? You know, 'those' feelings?"
"Don't be silly. Its not like there's some timetable for these things." As always, Cassie was pretty outright with her thoughts. "I was still crazy upset over you when Jason asked me out. And I'm totally falling for him. It happens. So who's the lucky girl?" Like she didn't sort of know. "And when do you have the big talk with Dawnie?"
"There are bigger problems than just my timetable," Andrew told her. "Let's say that this girl has problems as well. She just got out of a relationship herself."
"Ok. Andrew? You should know by now that problems don't get in the of love." Yup, she knew that deep down, he was just afraid. "We're dorks, honey. We don't tend to have much confidence talking to the opposite sex." She sweetly patted his back, sighing a little. "Seriously now: who is it? If its NOT Dawn, I gotta know who."
God, this had to be something that Freud could never have come up with. "It's the mother of my last girlfriend, and I don't mean Skylar."
"Wait.... GWEN?" Wow. All Cassie could think was, this boy had some traaaagic taste in girls. "No offense intended, seriously, but GWEN?!? You? I mean... I thought she kind of annoyed you, to be honest!"
"Well, at least you didn't say that I don't have a shot in hell," he replied. "She never really annoyed me. I just didn't know how to handle being around her. That's different."
She WANTED to say that really, EVERYONE had a shot with Gwen. But since she liked the girl, she kept her mouth shut about that. "Well, like you said, she's been through a lot lately. But maybe you're what she needs to get through it, ever think of that? Just... don't go there unless you're SURE. Last thing she needs is someone else hurting her, even unintentionally. God knows she needs some stability... Me and Jason have seen her leave Avarice with SOOOO many different people lately. And rarely sober."
"I know that. I know all about that stuff because she tells me about it. I don't want to hurt her at all, so I haven't said anything. I don't even know how I'd begin to talk to her about that."
"Wow. I just... you and GWEN? I never would have even pictured you liking her." Cassie wasn't mocking him... she was just having having a hard time wrapping her head around this. "I mean, yeah, she's sexy and all... but she was like one of the guys with you..."
He shrugged. "I didn't exactly expect this to happen, either. It's kind of funny, because she keeps asking me if I want her to hook me up with someone that she knows. Not sure how much longer I can dance around the subject."
Ok. Now. I will love and support you forever, so don't take this the wrong way." She tried not to laugh. "GWEN. ARE YOU SURE?"
"Yes, I'm sure!" He shook his head. "You don't think I tried to talk myself out of this? I've fallen for a very broken person who doesn't even want to be monogamous because she got screwed over by someone doing just that. Apparently you can't talk yourself out of love, though."
"Nonono... Not what I mean at ALL, honey. I guess what I'm trying to ask is..." Oh shit, how the hell does someone PUT this? "Let's just say she ends up liking you back. Um... are you sure you can, you know, HANDLE her?"
"I don't know that, either," he admitted. "There are too many questions about all of this. I have half a mind to just keep it to myself and not say anything."
"I might have to agree, actually. I mean, you're still my best friend. And you might be getting in over your head here." She hoped she wasn't sounding catty, because she was really looking out for him. "I mean look: you know she looooves women. Do you think she could never be with a girl again if you get together? Would you want her to, even? If you knew it wasn't her nature? And you don't seem the type who could handle your girlfriend going out and having The Sex with bunches of other girls, Andrew."
"I know. I thought about all of that, too. Feelings still don't go away, though." He sighed, sitting down on the ground for a moment. "I also see her going out every night and basically killing herself slowly. She dies a little inside every night because she really thinks that she will never have anyone love her again like Skylar did, but I really think I could. I don't know if I can handle all of her, but I want to try. Is that enough?"
"Then I'm only gonna say this once, cuz I love you both." The little blonde sighed and let out a deep sigh. "Make sure before you even go for it that you know you can handle the whole Gwen package. For both your sakes."
"Yeah, definitely want to make sure on that one," Andrew agreed. "I wouldn't want to hurt her, accidentally, on purpose, whatever."
"Just remember..." The girl gave her brightest smile now, wrapping her thin arms around him. "I support whatever decision you make, whether I agree with it or not. I love ya, then... now... and always."
