Fan Sighting!!
Who: Natalie McGuinness and Mere
Where: Avarice
When: Tuesday, Dec. 1
Mere was enjoying herself on the dance floor at the moment. Avarice was pumping for a Monday night, so there were plenty of people out with her. Tonight was just supposed to be a night of enjoying herself, well, at least as good as she could, anyway. At least one of her friends was still insane with grief over her dead relationship, but things were looking up in Mere world, at least. Signed to a label, prepping to go on tour. Could it get better?
While not really a club type of gal, Natalie McGuinness walked into Avarice, mostly to scope out what was apparently the main headquarters of her new band's new label, Full Moon records. The tattooed brunette felt the stares and heard the whispers as she walked in, but just ignored everything, just walking to the bar for a drink. She figured she'd have a drink or two, maybe talk to a few people, and head out. Nothing too bad. She wore a clingy black and gray mini with black stockings and boots, looking more like someone who got lost on their way to Eden.
When the particular song ended, Mere walked up to the bar to actually grab herself a drink as well. Hey, even vampires could crave water everyone once in a while. Bottle in hand, she looked over beside her and realized who was sitting next to her. "Hey, you're Natalie McGuinness, aren't you?" she asked, somehow managing to stay in control.
"I am." And then, showing that yes, she HAD been doing her homework on her new labelmates, "And you're Meredith Delany, right? Lead guitar for Suicide Messiah." Her dark green eyes sparkled, her smile infectious and bright as she offered a hand. "You guys are really good. It's gonna be an honor to be on the same label."
Mere smiled back and shook her hand. "That would be me," she said back. "And thanks. It's an honor to hear that from someone who actually is in a famous band that I respect." Weren't too many of those around.
"After I talked to Ben, and agreed to sign, I had my agent look up all the people on his label. You guys... really kinda blew me away." And she wasn't sitting here lying, saying she'd followed them from the beginning, blah blah. Honesty could indeed be refreshing.
"Wow, thanks. That really means a lot, coming from you," she said. "I mean, I've been following you guys for a while. I almost fell over and died when Ben told me that he had signed you guys."
"Ben has... a lot of faith in your band. I won't lie... when I first heard he was engaged to the singer, I kinda thought that was why. But I talked to him on the phone for close to four hours the day we agreed to sign... and the man really has faith in you." Oh, if she knew the unintentional pun she just uttered.
"Oh, I'm sure that doesn't hurt," Mere cracked, laughing. "We've got the talent to back up the fact that he happens to be with the lead singer. That's how I like to think of it, anyway."
"Love her voice, by the way. Very unique. I'd love to talk to her sometime." Smirking a little, Natalie looked at Mere and raised an eyebrow. "Are you feeling alright? You have like... NO color to you."
"I'm not a day type person, so I don't see a lot of sun," Mere said. "I'm sure she'd love to meet you as well, though. I can toss you her number if you'd like."
"If you don't think she'd be freaked out by a total stranger just calling her out of the blue, sure." Natalie just smiled, thinking to herself that she was more tanned than a Baywatch beauty next to this girl. "We're planning an interview, to formally announce the signing. Once that's said and done, I think I'd really like to sit down with each of you, as well as each of the girls in The Lazarus Project. Maybe see if we can form some real solidarity with those of us on the label. I feel we can all grow stronger through it."
Mere nodded. "Nah, she wouldn't care. She'd be tickled pink to get a call from you." Yeah, Mere was pale, but she was totally a vampire. Just not something that she shared with just anyone, no matter how much she admired them. "That sounds awesome, actually. The Lazarus Project girls are great, too. The guitarist is awesome, and the lead singer and bassist are cool, too. I don't know the drummer personally, but she must at least be decent, you know?
"Speaking of drummers, I understand YOURS is quite ambitious..." Yes, the legend of Chloe and her five million bands and big-ass coffee shop were growing. "Between that and YOUR obvious pedigree, I have no doubt about you. None."
Mere laughed. "Chloe's a ball of energy. She really couldn't be contained in just one band. First Broken Sunrise approached her, and then her old band was able to get back together, so now she's got three. Well, three that I know of, anyway."
"Some of the greats can manage that." She pointed out, grinning at Mere. "Look at Phil from Pantera. Guy's got two or three bands. Mike Patton from Faith No More, I think he's got four or five." Natalie held back a smirk as she folded her hands on the table. "Hell, I'd do it if I had the attention span."
"Part of the problem is the attention span," Mere said. "I couldn't do it. I'd rather focus on one than spread it out, but to each their own."
"Just keep up the good work. I think you could end up being better than your father." And THAT she said with highest respect.
"Well, thanks." If Mere could have blushed, she would have. "I really appreciate the vote of confidence there."
Natalie reached over and sweetly placed a palm on Mere's cheek. She wasn't flirting at all, she was just a very touchy-feely person. She felt herself taken aback at how cool Mere's skin was, but pushed the thought aside. "Hopefully we'll be able to get to know one another better. I've always wanted to take a young band or musician and sort of take them under my wing. Sort of a way to thank fate for giving me the breaks it did."
"I think I'd like that, too," Mere said to her with a smile. She would certainly like to get to know Natalie a lot more, that was for sure. There was so much that the other musician could teach her.
