Good News!
Who: Skylar and Ben
Where: Their Home (Mansion!)
When: Monday, Nov. 30 (Backdated)
"Skylar?" Ben was beaming right this second, as he quickly sprinted through their new home, from the home office he had next to their bedroom, into the main TV room where the Slayer was relaxing. "Big news... huge, really..."
Skylar was actually semi-working on a song at the moment, although she wasn't so into it that she might freak about loosing her train of thought or anything like that. "Sure, what's up Ben?" she asked, looking up at him.
"Remember when we saw that headline in the entertainment news yesterday, that Eternal Embrace broke their ties with Epic?" He didn't even wait for her to answer: he was too excited. "Well... I spent the majority of the day on the phone, but I just closed the deal... and we now have probably the most popular gothrock band on the planet on Full Moon Records."
"Wait, are you shitting me?" Sort of blunt, coming from Skylar, but she was feeling to the point. "Do you KNOW how much I love them? Seriously? And now we have them on our label? Holy crap!" She managed to not completely throw her guitar aside before pumping up and hugging him.
"Well, you're likely gonna get to tour with them now, because they're gonna finish their new album and release it through me now." Did he feel like a bad ass mother fucker right? You betcha. "This officially puts us on the map. In a big, big way. It cost me a LOT of money, but its gonna pay itself off so quickly it wont even be funny."
"Yes it's going to pay off quickly, especially if they do a tour for us," Skylar pointed out. "That's how everyone makes money is through a tour, including artists themselves."
"This'll give us one already-huge act, two up-and-coming acts, and a lot of room to grow. This is coming together even better than I imagined." Grinning broadly, he kissed her sweetly on the lips. "Now that this part is done, I can let Grant and Neely do some of the leg work here, so we can start planning the wedding."
She smiled, kissing him back. "That's good, because, if we're going to pull off this castle thing, we've got to get on the ball, you know?"
"Well... I've got ideas of who to ask to be inn my half of the wedding party now, so, that makes it a little easier for me." Oh, he had to do this. He HAD to. "So when are you asking Patience and Iris?"
"When hell freezes over," she said simply. "I'm fine with you inviting them, because Pat is a friend to both of us and Iris is a friend of yours, and I don't have to be a heinous bitch like some people, but THAT will never happen."
"Rrrrrright. And this is the part where I'm JOKING. I might invite Iris, but I doubt she'll come. The McConnells.... I doubt it would be wise to invite them." Yikes... he gave that little smirk of his, trying to let the smoke settle a little. "Sorry... too soon I guess."
"That's fine," Skylar said with a simple shrug. "I'm not too worried about it, either way. If they want to stir drama, let them. I'm done with it. I just want to plan my wedding and have fun. Is that too much to ask?"
"Not at all. And you said that having a one or two women in my half of the wedding party shouldn't be a big deal?" Because he had plans, but... he wanted to make sure he wasn't making anything difficult on her.
"No, not at all. That's certainly not some tradition I'm a stickler for or anything like that," Skylar told him. "Who did you have in mind?"
"Well... I definitely gotta ask Mere. And once I thought about it, there's nobody that's more fitting to me the Best Man type than Neely." She was his own personal Mini-Me, after all...
"All very true," Skylar told him. "Well, Rachelle would definitely be on my side, and probably Chloe as well." Other than that, well, Ben had already taken Mere, after all.
"Obviously, we'd cover the cost of making sure everyone can get there. It won't be cheap, after all." And he wasn't about to say it, but he knew Rachelle, Meredith, and a few of the others didn't exactly have that kind of money just laying around.
Skylar nodded. "Oh no, I'm fine with it. Chloe and maybe Mere could pull off the ticket on their own, but the rest, hell, I figured we'd just cover their tickets and stay as part of the 'gift to the wedding party' thing you have to do," she told him.
"This is gonna put the Royal Family to fucking SHAME." As he gave a wolfish grin, you could almost hear the amusement. "Princess Di and Prince Charles can suck it, man..."
"Well, they ended in divorce, and we won't, so that will put them to shame right there," Skylar reminded him playfully.
"Speaking of divorce, at least an emotional one..." He smiled, giving a soft stroke of her cheek. "How did your big talk with Gwen go?" He was hoping they could both start putting this behind them, for Gwen's sake especially.
"Yeah, I went and talked to her," Skylar said. "I'm not sure if it did any good, but I went and talked to her and apologized to her. I wish things had ended a little better, at least for her sake."
"You can't just magically make her depression go away... but did it at least seem to put an end to the anger?" And then, he decided to try to make her laugh. "And if you guys ended up making out, did you at least record it for me?"
"She did ask me for one last kiss," Skylar said plainly to him. "Figured I owed her that much. Nothing came of it. I didn't feel anything like I once did. I think it sort of put the caper on it, for her. She looked crushed when I left."
"Didn't feel anything, hm?" So maybe he was trying to show her how much things could change. Maybe he was just trying to be romantic. "So... nothing like how this makes you feel?" He asked as he tilted his head and pressed his lips to hers for a long, soft, steamy kiss.
She kissed him back, practically melting in his arms after a few moments. "No," she said when they pulled away, a little breathless, "Nothing like that at all."
