Bored at the bar
Who: CJ and Anthony Where: Rainbow Bar & Grill, Sunset Strip When: Monday afternoon
Mid-afternoon, the Rainbow Bar & Grill was lucky to be even open, honestly. For how busy evenings were, the afternoons were generally the exact opposite. Outside of a few stragglers who stopped in for a quick drink, CJ had nothing to do but continually wipe down the bar, clean glasses that were, well, already clean, and just try her best to look busy. Leaning against the bar, the tall brunette sighed deeply, letting her hair out of it's ponytail and taking a sip of ginger ale.
Anthony walked into the bar, more tired than anything. Last night had been a late night gig, and he had honestly only just woken up about an hour ago. While he was no alcoholic, he did like to have a beer in the afternoon before heading off to a practice for Devilock or whatever he might do on an off afternoon. Didn't matter, since he didn't have too many of those. He walked up to the bar and smiled at the obviously bored bartender. "Can I get a Bud please?" he asked.
"Sure thing, sweetie." She said with a sugar-sweet grin. "Looks like I got my first rock-star of the day..." she said it with playful mirth, as she usually got quite a few musicians, some well-known, some not, every night. "Your ex-guitar player comes in here a lot... I was wondering if the rest of you ever would."
"She does, does she?" Not too shocking. The girl was a raging alcoholic, along with a few other problems. "Is she as much of a handful for you guys as she was for us?"
"If you're here for Anti-Lexi time, you're in the wrong place." CJ giggled and shook her head. "People love her here... she's like a mini-celeb."
Anthony only shrugged. "I only know her from my experience with her. Great to party with, but a pain to get her to actually do anything." He had heard a few rumors that she had changed, but he just didn't buy them. "Have you seen her new band?"
"Yeah, they're pretty tight, man." She couldn't stop smiling... this was the co-vocalist for one of her favorite bands sitting here having a drink at her bar. She dealt with enough celebs to know how to not act starstruck, but it didn't mean she could get a little smiley at times. "Speaking of which... great show last week, a few friends and I saw you guys play that show at Live Wire."
"I might actually have to see them one of these times, then." Edie would throw a fit, but now he was curious. "Thanks. Always good to hear that we did a good job." Especially from a cute bartender, no less.
CJ was half surprised to not see Edie. She wouldn't say anything, but people tended to say Edie kept this guy on a short leash. "So... not trying to pry, but are you and Edie dating? You're kinda... always together."
He laughed and shook his head. "I'm not sure if Edie could actually 'date' anyone." Too mundane for her, probably. "We've known each other for years, though. Been friends for what feels like forever."
"Hm. Good to know." She winked with a laugh and filed that little tidbit away, not that she'd ever tell anyone. "Not to sound like I'm gushing, but you have a great singing voice."
"Well, thank you." He always liked talking to fans. It was good to know that what they did was appreciated. He couldn't help but wonder why she liked knowing he was single, though.
"Want another drink? This one's on the house." She asked, reaching over for another Bud.
"Thanks," he said, accepting the next Bud. "I probably need to cut myself off after this," he said. "I don't want to be one of those people staggering around in the afternoon."
She laughed and crossed her arms under her bosom. "That would be quite unattractive..."
He took a sip of the beer. "Plus, then I wouldn't be able to play tonight. Can't play well with a nasty hangover." One of the things that got Lexi tossed out on her ass. He couldn't help but be curious if she had really changed her ways.
"You should come here more. Nice to have someone new to talk to. You know... other than the usual crowd." She was stammering a bit, and inwardly cursed herself.
"I'll have to to that, then," Anthony said. "I probably need to go soon now, though, but I'll make sure to stop by again soon."
"Ah... dammit. Back to my boring day then." She made a dramatic sigh, hand-to-forehead. "See you soon?"
