Just Not Hot For Teacher
Who: Skylar and Ben
When: Wednesday Night, Nov. 25
Where: New Orleans, James Estate, Bedroom
Skylar was laying in the bed with Ben at the moment. They had just enjoyed a fun night of, well, FUN, and were now coming down from the natural high that it tended to give people. She looked over at him. They were actually in her childhood bedroom, which, amazingly enough, had a king sized bed. Good for them. Her room wasn't actually decorated in any way. When she moved out, her mother had taken down all the stuff she had up and made it look like a 'normal' room. "So, I thought that Neely was going to be a mini-former-you?" she asked, a little breathless, still. From the look on his face, she didn't have to ask if he enjoyed himself, so might as well make conversation until they fell asleep, right?
"Of alllll the times to have this conversation..." Ben scoffed with a chuckle. "We're laying in the same bed you likely had your first dirty dream in, and all you can think of is my cousin?" Still, he agreed with her. "Maybe she's more like me than even I thought. She's got a big heart, Skylar... and I think maybe it took meeting Rachelle to make HER realize it."
"Well, I don't have to ask you if you had a good time, do I?" she asked playfully. "And I had my first dirty daydream in the shower, thank you." She laughed. She did like playing with his head, after all. "Maybe it did. I think it's good for her, though. Monogamy may or may not be for everyone, but finding a healthy relationship is always a good thing."
"Wow. Young Josephine, allll alone and wet in the shower, having dirty thoughts. I think I might be ready to go again in mere minutes." Snickering a little, he winked at her. "Neely's a good girl, no matter how she likes to seem. As long as she's happy, I don't care if she's with one person or a hundred."
"Being happy is what matters for everyone, although most of those whom we know seem to be gravitating toward one relationship over multiple. Several of them even seem to be gearing up toward marriage." She looked at him. "Even your friend Iris seems to be going there with her Watcher. Good for her." Let Iris be the bitter one. Skylar felt above it.
"Girl's been through enough.... I know you guys hate each other, but she's a good friend. To me, at least." And yes, he DID have a one-track mind. "So how old were you? And who was it about? Inquiring minds want to know."
"If I told you, that would take away the fun," Skylar pointed out. "I actually don't hate Iris. She hates me. Slight difference there. Besides, what's she going to do? Take you away from me? I don't see her as a threat. I'd have to do that to be worried about her enough to hate her." Slightly mean to say, but it's what she thought. "I'm glad that she's happy." Might make her less bitter.
"Iris? No. No threat at all. Been there, done that, enjoyed that... but she and I? Have NOTHING in common, other than respect and a slight mutual attraction." Who said Ben wasn't 100& honest?
"So, not 'Hot for Teacher' then?" Skylar asked playfully, both jokingly referring to Iris's former occupation and his epic hatred of David Lee Roth.
"No... and THAT was a low blow, woman." He briefly thought about throwing one of his OWN back, saying that maybe he already knew what it was like being with Little Skylar ANYWAY... but figured that might be TOO mean.
"You left the door open, I just walked through," she said to him. He probably would have gotten hit with a pillow if he had said that, but luckily, it went unsaid.
"So... now that your family is as gung-ho over the wedding as we are... now we can actually start planning it." Did he actually seem excited about this? Might be a first, really. Benjamin Bale... EXCITED about the official end of his bachelor status.
"We knew they would be gung-ho over this," Skylar said to him. "Yeah, now we can start planning it. We could always do something epic like fly all of our friends to a castle or something in Europe."
"If we do that... would your parents freak out too terribly if I invited Dracula to the wedding?" Was he kidding? He... actually sounded moderately serious there.
"Do you know Dracula? Is there a Dracula?" Skylar asked, rolling over on her side and propping her head up on her hand. "Come on, it's not like I can ask a Watcher this type of stuff."
"Oh, Dracula's quite real. He's dealt with my family several times over the years. Bit of a drama queen, that one... but as far as vampires go, not a bad guy if you earn his respect." Oh my god. Ben WAS serious.
"Oh my god, you are serious, aren't you? If you're messing with me I'm so going to kill you," Skylar told him. "Dracula is a drama queen? Kind of figured he would be, actually. Just keep him from gnawing on my relatives and everything should be fine."
"He'd never do that. He likes the... business arrangements we've had." Oh, he was going to enjoy teaching her things she never knew. "So... you know her better than I... what's so special about Rachelle that she made my Neely go all loopy so soon? Girl had walls like STEEL up, and that girl just knocked 'em right down."
"Because Rachelle is probably one of the most honest people that I know. It's something about that that just makes you drop all of your walls. She sort of makes you want to tell everything about yourself," Skylar said. "Besides, she could befriend Hitler and make him change his ways. Neely never stood a chance."
"Wow. Sounds like I got with you just in the nick of time there..." He half-joked about her obvious intense respect for the girl. "She's not hard on the eyes, either. Cleans up well."
"Nah, we're meant for each other," Skylar said to Ben. "However, Rachelle is a great girl, no question there. I think Neely will be happy with her. And she does clean up amazingly well."
"Thank god she found Rachelle before she could hit on Lydia... THAT could have gotten messy." He knew damn well Lyds would have been putty in Neely's well-trained hands.
Skylar looked at him for a moment. "Well, maybe she's actually happy with Gideon now. You can't tempt someone away if they secretly don't want to be." Or not so secretly, as sort of had been her case, it seemed.
"So... This idea of flying out, having a huge royal-type wedding..." He was grinning ear to ear now, the attention-whore within him loving it. "I think I kind of adore it."
"Really?" Skylar asked. "I always did sort of want to be a princess." She paused for a second and laughed. "Well, even more so than I already was, I guess."
"Princess?" He scoffed, almost offended there. "A James marrying a Bale? You'll be a QUEEN, woman."
"Didn't say that I couldn't do better than my own dreams, Ben," she pointed out to him.
"Only thing you can't do better with is your taste in men. Because really... It's ME." Again... serious or kidding? With Ben, who knew?
"No, I don't think I could do any better than you," she agreed, leaning over to kiss him.
"And me? I finally went and got myself the sexiest..." He kissed her lips, "hottest..." then her throat, "woman in the entire fucking world."
"Damn right you did," Skylar replied.
