Louise couldn't remember the last time she'd celebrated an actual holiday. Her parents had been very into tradition and family bonding. Then again, they'd been into "family values" as well, and teenage pregnancy hadn't been something they'd wanted to promote.
Why she'd agreed to spend Thanksgiving with Jack and his friends, she had no idea, other than the fact that she wanted to spend time with him. Did she realize Meredith would be present? She suspected. That was rather intimidating, as the girl had kept her distance and Louise didn't blame her. How easy would it be to keep away from each other while within the same house, however?
"It's going to be fine," she said, as much to Jack as to herself as he rang the doorbell. "I know how to behave." At that, the vaguest hint of a grin curved her lips.
