Not So Serious Girl Talk Who: Christina Lowell & Molly Carter Where: Christina's garage When: Monday evening
Wow. Training a Slayer was harder even than Christina's lessons had prepared her for. The perky blonde sat on the floor of the little dojo she'd built for them in her garage, her hair pulled back in a pony, her body clad in pin and black sweatpants and a blue tank. "Whew... good session, Molly... you're catching on very well."
Molly was on the floor, stretching out. A pleased smile curved her lips, "Thanks, Christina." Today, her Watcher had been especially challenging, something she noticed lately. More and more, their training sessions got tougher and tougher. Not that Molly minded at all, she enjoyed the challenges thrown at her. But ... the Slayer was awfully curious about all the heavy training. "Um ... Christina?" Molly pulled her lower lip between her teeth in uncertainty, "Is there ... something I should know?"
"Well..." Christina blew a strand of blonde hair from her eyes, and leaned back. "You know most of it... we fear that Iris McConnell's murder was the beginning of a large-scale vampire attack... but we're trying to get help for you girls. We know that none of you have much experience yet, which is what the vampires, we believe, are banking on. But between a few of us, we know a few vampires that, oddly enough, are on our side, as well as a family of powerful werewolves. We're hoping that evens the sides a bit, but we want you to be able to be as equal to them in ability as possible."
Done with stretching, Molly was sprawled out on her stomach, chin propped up with her hand as her milky white eyes stared vaguely out in front of her, "Who are these vampires and werewolves? Are they like Detective Mitchell?"
"The vampires, I actually haven't met yet. However, I do know that one of them is friends with several of your fellow Slayers. Her name, I believe, is Meredith Delaney. The werewolves... are a bit more touchy. The Bale family is quite powerful and tries to stay out of problems between humans and demons... but we're lucky enough that one of their number is dating Mr. Giles' slayer, which prompted him to talk several of his family into helping him to assist us."
"Hm ... I think I saw one of the Bale's at the Christmas party." Molly tilted her head a bit, recalling what she heard at the party, "I think he was with Faith."
"Yes. That would be... the couple in question." From what she'd heard, neither of them were exactly sweet, polite types. "I'm just thankful you're not the Slayer involved with him, Molly."
The teenager scrunched up her nose in distaste, "Oh, he is SO not my type. Those two are perfect for each other."
Christina just chuckled there, feeling for poor Mr. Giles for just a moment. He was such a nice gentleman, and his Slayer was, well... more suited for Aidan. "We're doing everything we can, taking every precaution, to keep you girls as safe as possible."
Molly stood then, a smile on her face as she stared ahead of her while moving toward Christina, "I know you are." In a sibling fashion, the Slayer placed an affectionate kiss on top of the Watcher's head before counting her steps back to her gym bag. After a long pause, Molly asked curiously, "How is Detective Mitchell?"
The sibling thing was easier to understand with these two, as Christina was easily the youngest watcher currently employed by the Council. At only 24, she was barely older than a lot of the Slayers. "Jacob is alright... he's a little stressed right now over this whole thing with Mrs. McConnell... I think he's stuck in the middle between what he knows and what the police need to know."
Molly looked down in the general direction of her gym as she opened it with a sigh, "At least he doesn't have to hide who he is ..." The Slayer murmured, "I think I can relate."
"Sweetheart... you don't have to... hide who you are, you just have to be very, very selective as to whom you tell." The blonde felt like hell, watching how bad Molly hated lying to everyone. "In the wrong hands, information about who you are could cost anything from your life to the sanity of the person you tell."
Her fingers dug into the shirt she had pulled out slightly, fighting the urge to snap back at Christina. Molly was brought up better than that. "I know ... I know, it's just--" The Slayer shoved the shirt back into the bag and turned back to face her Watcher, "I hate lying to her. Them."
"Oh, Mols..." Christina hatedhatedHATED this part of her job. The part where she couldn't just buckle and tell the girl to do anything she wanted. "I don't want to hide this from your mother forever, honey... just until we can share it with her without it causing any kind of trouble."
Somehow, Molly had the distinct feeling that wouldn't be for a while. Turning back to the gym bag, the Slayer packed up the rest of her stuff so she could head home for the night.
"Molly... you gotta know, if there was some way I could make all this work out the way you want it to be, I'd do it." The blonde bit her lip lightly, trying to be strong as she was taught, but without being mean. "We'll make this all right, I promise."
"I know you will." Molly forced a smile on her face, pulling the strap of the bag on her shoulder. Moving back to Christina, she looped her arm with the older woman's, "So ... is Detective Mitchell as attractive as he sounds?" Molly teased.
"Ohhhhhh no, Molly, you are NOT baiting me into this." Christina stifled a giggle, but made sure her tone was light enough to show the younger girl she was being playful. "We'll just say he's a very nice gentleman, and someone we can BOTH count on."
The younger girl pretended to pout, "And here I thought you were off the clock. Lady, how am I supposed to learn about boys if no one will tell me anything?" Molly giggled as they headed to Christina's car. "Geez, Christina, you make it sound like you're married."
"What can I say, dear... I may be young, but I don't kiss and tell." Finally, she relented, just a bit. "But, to answer your question... yes, he's quite attractive."
"Ooh, ouch" Molly retorted to her Watcher's comment of not kissing and telling and giggled again. Milky white eyes widened just slightly at the last thing Christina said and Molly softly replied, "OoooOO."
"Shush." Christina laughed there, unlocking the car door for her charge. "Or I'll do the same thing to you once you find a great guy."
Her laugh was cut off by the door shutting as she settled into her seat, buckling the safety belt. When Christina got into the driver's seat, Molly answered, "Well, I wouldn't protest too much. It's fun to gossip over guys."
Once Christina got into the car, and she was sure that nobody at all could hear them, the bubbly blonde burst out into a giggle fit. "Ohmygod... it really, really is. Come on... I'll get you home, and on the way, I'll answer any questions you have."
