Another Moving Day
Who: Skylar and Be
When: Monday, Nov. 2nd
Where: Ben's Apartment Above Avarice
Skylar was just happy that she hadn't unpacked all that much. With the surprise that Ben had bought them a giant house for the four of them to live in, she was so very glad that they would be moving again soon. Not that she didn't occasionally enjoy living above a club, but it tended to make Bella's sleeping schedule all the more screwy. The sooner they could be out of here, the better for the baby. Right now Skylar was putting a few things into a box in the room that they had been using for Bella. Luckily, Bella would soon enough have a giant room to herself. She could have a real nursery again.
Ben felt a little strange as well. He neeeeeever saw the day he'd willingly move out of his Ultimate Bachelor Pad. Yet here he was, packing up his shit to do just that. "So..." He began, smirking as he found his Little Black Book, and packed it into one of the boxes, "Pat called me, wanted to know if Bella could spend a few days with he and Patience next week. I would imagine with Gwen as well."
"I'm fine with that," Skylar said. "I've been meaning to call him and talk about setting up a regular time for Bella to go over to them, but I didn't know when he was getting back into town." It was time to suck it up and call him. Patience could hate her all she wanted to, but she shared something with Pat that couldn't be undone, a daughter. Both he and Gwen had the right to still see her. She really didn't have any intention of keeping Gwen away from her, either.
"And..." He sighed there, hoping this next part wasn't going to upset her. "I... left an envelope in her mailbox. With a money order, made out from one of my aliases. She'll never know it was me. I... gave her a couple thousand dollars, just to help get her back on her feet."
Skylar sighed. It didn't really upset her, though. "If she knows that it was you, she'll set it on fire just to be spiteful," she pointed out. "For your sake, I hope she doesn't figure it out." For Gwen's sake, too. She needed to money.
"I made it look like a grateful reward from someone she saved." He said, smirking a little. "What can I say? I'm a hell of a guy."
"You are, actually," Skylar said, smiling up at him. Shocker to everyone who wanted to be down on him, but he was actually a nice guy. Something even he tried to hide from time to time.
"Wait until you see the place." He said, changing the subject with an excited grin. "The basement was so big, I had it separated into halves, and one half is being turned into a private movie room, like a mini theater." As if as an afterthought, he said a name. He knew she'd know what he meant. "Oh. Yeah. By the way. Spielberg."
"Wait, it was Spielberg's house?" Wow, now that was something that was truly crazy. "Damn..." Freaky stuff. She was going to live in Spielberg's old house. Wonder if she should tell Lyds. Only problem with that was that she might spill to everyone. "Can't wait to see this private movie room, though."
Ben, right now, was more concerned with describing it. "Two huge inground pools - one indoor, one out. A small guest house. Eight bedrooms, two kitchens, two dining rooms, two living rooms, two game rooms, a private gym, and lots more." Was he proud? Hell yes. Also... it gave her her first clue of JUST how rich this family WAS.
Her family certainly wasn't slacking in the wealth, either. "Sounds delightful," she said simply. "I know Lyds will be thrilled to hear about all of that."
"You know..." He laughed wistfully, "this place has seen a lot of decadence over the last year..."
"I bet," Skylar said with a smirk. "Are you sure you're OK with moving away from here?"
"I want a real life now. One with you and Bella." Maybe Ben was really, finally growing up. "Besides... I can keep this here in case we ever get the urge to fuck while we're at the club." Oooor maybe not.
She started laughing. "Never said we had to get rid of it," she said, looking around. "We did share our first kiss here, after all."
"Maybe it would be fitting if we..." Yeah, Ben would have a one track mind if he lived to be 100. "Left this place in a blaze of glory..."
Skylar laughed again. "Maybe we should," she said playfully. "Of course, it would be nice if we had the place to ourselves for that." Both Lydia and Bella were in other parts of the house right now.
"Fine." Not a man to be denied, he gave that evil grin she'd seen the first time they'd met. "Tell Lydia to take the baby for a trip to see Uncle Brett and Aunt Nevada, and meet me in the bedroom in twenty minutes."
"Fine," she said with a smirk of her own. "Let me just go find them then."
