The Firestarter and the Master of Dark Magic Who: Marlowe and Ash When: Saturday Afternoon(October 24) Where: Wes' place
Gwen's little drunken speech at the wedding, while amusing, had worried Ash greatly. Deciding to check on the girl, Ash walked the short distance from his small home to Wesley's place. Wearing a sharp black suit, his growing blonde hair framing his face, he straightened his tie and rang the doorbell.
Unfortunately for Ash neither Wesley nor Gwen were in at the moment as would be much apparent when he found the door being open by a dishwater blonde who he was unfamiliar with. Marlowe could have ignored the ringing of the bell, but seeing as she was staying at the house for the present time she didn't feel any apprehension in answering the door. "Hey." Marlowe greeted with a smile to the blonde guy on the other side of the door.
Ash knew one of Gwen's friends was staying with them now, hell, Patience had called the girl. Still, it was a bit awkward as he'd never even met the girl.
"Sorry dude, she's not in at the moment. She's out somewhere in the city with Wesman. You're welcome to come in for a bit if you want, not sure when that little duo will be back though." Marlowe said opening the door a bit wider when she took a step back to give the guy room to enter the house.
Hm. Attractive enough girl, he thought. Definitely reminded him of Gwen, vibe-wise. "Thanks... h-how's she doing? I kinda worried after seeing her at the wedding."
"Yeah, that was kind of unexpected." And Marlowe would have stop it had she seen it coming, but she didn't and she didn't think anyone else had either. "I think she kind of got things out of her system at the wedding." Not that Gwen was one hundred percent back to her old self, but to Marlowe she seemed to be dealing a little bit better with what Skylar had done to her.
"I still can't believe anyone would hurt her like that. Gwen's like family to me and Patience."
Blinking, he tilted his head slightly to the left.
"...didn't you guys date for a while too or something?"
"Neither can I, and if I ever cross paths with them, well let's just say it won't be a pretty sight." At least she wouldn't do what her truck driver father threatened when he learned what happened to Gwen as the guy had thought of the feisty slayer as a second daughter. "For a short time." Marlowe answered closing the door and then leading the guy into the living room.
"Sorry if I was... getting too personal there. I just wanna see her happy. I really do love her."
Ash wasn't sure how he felt around Marlowe. The girl was very attractive, but seemed distant, almost robotic in her responses.
"Hope I'm not bothering you or anything..."
"We all care and love Morrison."
"Not at all, dude." Marlowe flopped herself down on the couch with a smile. "Wasn't doing anything but chilln' around Wes' fancy digs." The blonde chuckled softly.
"So..." He grinned mischievously, having always wondered this, "you're the one that's a fire elemental, right?" He had only just realized why her name sounded so familiar. "That's some impressive power. I've got some major power going on myself, and that even impresses ME."
"You and Morrison must be really tight for her to have mentioned that little fact about me." Not that she minded all that much because Marlowe knew Gwen wouldn't blab to just anyone about her ability, anyone the other girl might have told would be wise enough to keep that info to themselves. "And just what major power do you possess?" She inquired with interest as she sat up a bit straighter to hear with the guy had to say.
"Like I said... Gwen's like a sister to me. And as for me?" He tried not to sound proud, as he knew he'd done bad things with his abilities. "I've become something of a master of dark magic."
Marlowe sat up then. "No shit." Quite impressed with the fact that he was into the dark magics. "That make you a warlock with the darkside or do you prefer the term witch?" In Marlowe's eyes that trumped what she could do big time.
"I've always been a fan of warlock, myself." He gave a little, feeling like the ice had officially been broken. "Elementals are amazing though. I heard about a water elemental that wiped out an entire demonic colony. I can't even imagine what fire could do..."
"Could probably wipe out an entire demonic colony, though it be by way of consumption by fire rather then drowning by water." Marlowe informed him. "And I can also walk into a burning building and come out without so much as having singed my blonde ends." Not that Marlowe made it a practice of entering burning buildings, but she wasn't exactly unfamiliar with it.
"Fire doesn't even hurt you???" He asked, eyes widening in awe. "Holy shit, girl... That's awesome!" Hell, it had been a while since he could really talk powers with someone.
"Nope," and to prove her point Marlowe raised a hand hoping that Gwen and Wesley, especially Wesley, didn't walk in just then as her hand glowed a brief moment before it was concealed within a glove of flames. The flames then seemed to vanish almost as quickly as they had appeared to surround her hand leaving no marks of burning or scorching as would have been the case if the flames would have engulfed the hand of a normal human. "Would say that it was just as amazing as being able to handle the dark magics."
"Jesus... I bet the two of us could kick some major ass together." He said with a sly smile, as if the wheels were turning. "Hard to imagine much that could overcome that combo."
"Kind of like the dynamic duo." Marlowe chuckled at the thought of them combining forces to battle evil. "Would be a combined force to be reckoned with." She had to agree that they would be a powerful force to go up against if they put their words into action.
"Funny how you tend to make new friends in the strangest ways, hm?"
Ash relaxed more, happy to have seemingly found a new pal. Ash wasn't the type who made friends easily, so to him, this was a major thing.
"Yep. Just think if you hadn't stopped by looking for Morrison we might not have met, or if we did that situation may have been different and we'd never have had the insist click." Marlowe knew she couldn't always hang with Gwen so having made what appeared to be an instant friend would give her another bud to hang out with. One that she had something in common with and who seemed easy to chat with even if he was a guy.
"And you had to know I was gonna ask this eventually..." Ash made himself give a look that was far too innocent to be true, stretching out a little. "Planning on any flames in the future of one Skylar James? Not that I'm condoning that. Because she's a slayer, and I'm a Junior Watcher, and well... that would be WRONG."
"So, can I get you something to drink junior G-Man?" Or would that be junior W-Man in this instant when Marlowe asked picking herself up off the couch. And yes she was blatantly avoiding answering his question about flames being in one Skylar James future, why answer something he probably already knew the answer to? He had already said that was something he couldn't condone and that it was wrong.
"Got anything good?" He felt fairly sure there was no liquor around, as nobody with half a brain would keep booze near Gwen right now. "And it's funny that you said that... Mr. Giles has been personally mentoring me. Luckily, my Slayer is improving by leaps and bounds, which makes me look great, even though she's been doing all the work in my mind."
"Well that'd depend on just what your fancy was, dude." Marlowe replied strutting herself into the kitchen. The girl had been at the house long enough to be all that familiar with the refreshments Wes had on hand. And as far as Marlowe knew there was no alcohol readily available to anyone in the house.
"If you guys have any Pepsi that'd be great." Ash had to admit: this chick was AWESOME. She was like a more... non-offensive version of Gwen. "So... you're new to LA? I'm sure between me and Gwen, we can show all the best places to hang out soon enough..."
"Sounds like we'd make quite the threesome." Marlowe smirked opening the fridge to lean down and check out what drinks Wes had chilling in the cold box. Grabbing a Pepsi and bottle of water the blonde re-tracked her way back into the living handing off the can of soda to Ash before resettling herself back on the couch twisting open her bottle of water.
Ash practically choked at her choice of words, but mostly hid it, instead merely blushing. "Yeah, and my sister loves hanging with Gwen, so..."
Marlowe chuckled internally seeing the boy blush. "Actually I think it's the other way around, and can't say I blame Morrison for enjoying hanging around your sister. I've met Patience and have to say she's one little hottie." Marlowe grinned before taking a drink of her water.
"Rrrrright. You know, I think there would be real issues if I agreed. So instead I'll just thank you for her, and say that you and Gwen aren't exactly eyesores yourselves." He cracked his knuckles and let out a little snort. "You know... every time I think my girlfriend is all caught up on supernatural things... I just gotta introduce her to someone who can control fire..."
"So she all up on and into your dark magic stuff?" The blonde inquired with another drink from her bottle while stretching her legs out onto the coffee table. They must really be into each other if Ashman here confided in the girlfriend what he was into.
"She's up on it... Wouldn't say she's into it, although at least it doesn't scare her anymore, which is a plus." Thank god, because he knew if Lucy would run off again, he'd be heartbroken.
"She sounds like a real nice girl." At least from what little Ash had shared with her about this Lucy chick he was seeing. If she knew what the guy was capable and was still with him she couldn't be all that bad, right.
"She's the best, really." The way his face lit up when he spoke of her... that was something rarely seen in most people. "She makes me want to be a better person."
"That's awesome, dude." Marlowe smiled to the guy. Wasn't often that a person found their match at such an early age in their life, at least that was the thought of the fire elemental sitting on the couch near the worker of dark magics.
Ash found himself wondering if he was beginning to think TOO much about work though, as while the two enjoyed themselves, and he made a rare new friend, he also found himself wondering if this girl could be right for Giles' top-secret new project. He needed to find out more first, though. Like if she had the fire inside to match that she could control. "Ever thought about trying to do like Gwen? Like, use your powers to protect people that can't protect themselves?"
"A slayer type? Me?" Marlowe couldn't stop the flow of chuckles that slipped past her lips. Not that the whole slayer thing that Gwen was into was found amusing it was that the guy had the thought that she might fit into that little group. At least that was what Marlowe was assuming Ash was talking about. Sure she had the fire thing going, but strength of a slayer, not so much.
"You can't just decide to be a slayer... But with the power you have, you could still do a LOT of good." He couldn't help but think, right now, that Giles had better damn well appreciate him planting the seeds here. "Besides... Who needs to fight? You could reduce someone to cinders before they got close enough to touch you."
"That's true." Marlowe nodded in agreement with the guy. She might not be the physical type that be good in a hand to hand battle, but she did have a useful little tool that she could use without even actually touching a person. "Okay. So say I'm interested. Not saying I am, but just for scenario sakes, what if I was, what might be involved in this little protecting people thing you brought up."
"Nothing I can talk about just yet. But trust me when I say that I'll get back to you as soon as I know what I'm allowed to say." Really, the blonde warlock was the shits at all this top-secret garbage. He pretty much hated it.
"So you're just gonna leave me hanging here Dark Magic Man?" Marlowe laughed softly. Figured he'd get her hooked and then leave her dangling from the line for who knew how long. Maybe she could wrangle more out of Gwen when she finally got back with Wesley from wherever.
"Trust me, Marlowe. You won't be waiting long. And I think you'll be very excited when we talk next."
Ash grinned at her, standing up.
"Look... for now I gotta get back to work. Let Gwen know I was here to check on her? I'll be in touch soon. We're gonna need to talk again, plus, I'd love to just hang sometime."
"Sure thing dude," the blonde smiled rising up from the couch. "Why don't I give you my number that way you'll have instant contact to me." Marlowe told him as she kept her cell phone with her at all times cause ya never knew when someone might try contacting you. Especially a father who spent more time on the road then at home, never knew when an emergency would come up where the guy was concerned.
