First Time For Everything
Who: Mere and Devon
Where: On the way to her home
When: Late late Thursday Night
After the show, and the after party, and stopping by a liquor store on the way home, Mere was actually three sheets to the wind at this point. It hadn't been intentional for her to get drunk tonight, but she was having fun. All the drama with her friends and in her band was something that, right now, she didn't want to think about. She felt so much more like living in the moment. Right now? Her moment was with Devon, singing her heart out as she walked down the street to her house with him. She was actually singing 'Louie Louie' with most of the correct words, because she had actually bothered to look them up once. Hey, wasn't that the ultimate drunken song?
Devon just stared at her, flabbergasted. "I... don't even want to know how much you've had. Christ, Meredith, I didn't think it was POSSIBLE for a vampire to get drunk." Still, he was clearly amused, holding her up so that she didn't stumble and fall. "I suppose you deserve it though... you played a hell of a show tonight, and Jack's never looked happier." He rolled his eyes. "Thank God your mother didn't show up... he didn't need that on his mind tonight."
Mere laughed. "I really wasn't aware, either," she admitted. "Been buzzed a few times, but I've had A LOT tonight!" She tried to spin in a circle, sort of pulling Devon along with her for the ride because he was the one holding her up. "The shows were awesome. All of them were." Mere admitting that the Lazarus Project was great was nothing short of a miracle. Blame the vodka she was carrying in her hand still. "You know, I still haven't actually met dear old mom again. Think she's feeling gun shy?"
"I... have been meaning to talk to dear Elle myself." Oh, had he been. He'd been meaning to tell her that if she fucked with Mere OR Jack, there wouldn't be enough of her left to roll into a joint. "And I gotta say... you looked amazing up there. I almost smacked about 14 different guys because I could see them practically fantasizing about you."
A statement that might have normally registered with the street smart girl went right over her head tonight. "I did look amazing up there. I think Ben might have gotten pissy if you started smacking dudes, though." She shook her head. "I almost embedded my axe in someone's head when I heard them booing. Personal business aside, if you don't like who's in the band, don't fucking show up for the show!"
"I... believe that all went over my head. Can't say I'm up on my Slayer gossip." He could tell there was some drama of some sort going on, but frankly, he'd been there for Mere and her father, and could have cared less about the others. "It did seem a tad... immature."
"It's all fucked up," Mere said to him. "I'm trying to stay out of it; I really am. Both girls are my friends, and so is Ben." She was babbling like he really knew who all these damn people were and exactly what was going on. "I even like Patience and Iris, the two who started the shirt thing, but this is getting bitchy fast. I think people just need to stay the hell away from each other for a while." She laughed. "Ben is a groomsman at Patience and Pat's wedding! I forgot. Well, that's going to be fun."
"I.... feel strangely like you're trying to explain some soap opera to me, that I jumped into five episodes in." He smirked, trying to catch up, and feeling vaguely like a stodgy old man here. "So... how would you like to celebrate your big night?"
"Our lives are soap operas, Devon," she said to him, almost looking serious for a minute. She smiled again when he asked how she wanted to celebrate the big night. "I'm thinking that you and I go to my place, and we see where the rest of this bottle takes us." She flashed him a wicked grin.
Despite the seeming eons he'd been around, Devon was vaguely unaware of what she meant by that. Nodding, he pulled her to him, both to hug her AND prevent her from falling. "Sounds good. Jack... more than likely won't be back until morning, knowing him." He laughed, realizing that while the two men had briefly met a few times, they'd never really gotten to know one another. He hoped that if Mere was as serious about this as he was... that would change.
It seemed to take her forever to make it back to her house. Then again, it didn't matter. She was going to live forever, anyway. "Nah, Jack won't be back till morning at least, if he doesn't crash at maybe Pat's or...well, whomever he finds after the show." She laughed. "So, we'll be all alone, in my basement apartment." She leaned against the door as she fished out her keys. After only the second wrong key, she finally managed to pull out the right one and unlock the door, only to send herself flying to the floor inside. Of course, didn't hurt a bit, and it wasn't only because of the numbing of alcohol. She just started laughing.
Normally, Devon didn't find drunkenness funny, but that? Cracked him up. For some reason, this sexy, normally graceful girl taking a fucking face plant just caused him to burst out laughing. "Jeez, Mere... not your sexiest moment, right there. In fact? That was about the polar opposite of how you looked earlier this evening."
"You find me hot no matter what and you know it," Mere said from the floor, seemingly content to just lay there for the moment. Luckily for her, Jack had been nice enough to invite him in once. She technically couldn't do it, being a vampire herself and all. Once he was inside, she kicked the door shut. Once the door was shut, she started kicking off her shoes.
Laughing, he crouched down, to try helping her up. "You're incorrigible, Meredith. Luckily... its one of the things I adore about you."
"Damn skippy," she said, she said, getting up off the ground with his help. Once she was up, she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and pulled him in for a kiss.
Closing his eyes, he kissed her back, thankful to every deity he could think of that somehow, she'd managed to find her way back to him. Seeing her with that werewolf was almost too painful for words. He almost radiated the happiness he currently felt. It made, somehow, being a vampire not quite so bad.
Their relationship had never really traveled past kissing. Devon had this gentlemanly thing going on that, while Mere adored, was starting to drive her a little bonkers with the horniness. Kind of made him all the hotter. Of course, she had no idea if he'd ever been with any woman, being an almost priest and all. With a grace that belied her drunkenness, she pulled him to the sofa and sat down, pulling him down with her.
Devon felt where this was going, and while he felt a little bad letting their... first time be while she was part-drunk, he knew this was how she wanted her perfect night to end. And he *did* love her... he just hoped that deep down, she felt the same. He let her drag him down, continuing to kiss her gently, a cold hand coming up to caress her cheek.
Mere might be drunk, but she at least knew perfectly what she was doing. Still, she was more than willing to go slow for him, which showed how much she actually *was* in control, goofy drunkenness be damned. She stayed in her own seat instead of crawling all over him, no matter how much she wanted to, instead running her own fingers through his hair.
"You do understand, I hope... how completely, undeniably, and ridiculously in love with you I am, I would hope..." He chuckled, knowing that right now, if he were human? He'd be having a hard time breathing. "And that I would do anything for you...."
Mere smiled at him. "I do know," she said to him. She kissed him again. "I love you, too. I really freaking do." She did. She sort of wished that she wasn't saying it before sex was going to happen, but alcohol did tend to make her mouth run. "I'd do anything for you, too."
"You know... I've only been waiting because I wanted this to be special. I wanted this... to be because of love, on both sides. Not just... because one or both of us had some urge." He hoped he wasn't sounding TOO lame, compared to some of the more... exciting people she'd likely been with. "But believe me... I've wanted you since the day we met."
"I know," she told him. "I get it, too. I really do." Her hand trailed down from his hair to his chest. "Doesn't mean that it didn't drive me crazy, but I understand."
He was already reaching down, fidgeting with his belt, trying to undress without seeming too... eager. "Well... congrats. I can't resist you for even one day longer. I'd say you win, but... I think we BOTH win here."
Mere actually took his hand, pulling it away from his belt and standing up, pulling him up with her. "Not here," she said, pulling him toward the stairs so that they could go downstairs to her room. "And yeah, we both win."
Meredith? Showing restraint? Devon briefly wondered if maybe he was having more of an influence on her than he'd ever thought. He took her hand, ready to follow where she led. "...after you, my dear."
