With a little sigh, she regarded him coolly. It wasn't that Sofia was heartless. Far from it, really. She'd been accused of being flighty and fickle in her emotions, transient in her affections, and perhaps there was a grain of truth to that. In some cases, she simply got bored too quickly. In others, the idea of being tied down (figuratively, at least) had the tendency to make her shy away.
Regardless, when she loved, she loved fiercely. It wasn't in her nature to be any other way.
She'd loved Ben, once upon a time. He'd been her first. Her first everything. First kiss, first love, first broken heart. They'd even taken each other's virginity. But she hadn't been able to stay and even if things had been different, if she had been different, her place was half a world away. With her own pack. Besides, they'd been kids.
So that still didn't answer the question of why she was here now.
"Can we not fight, Ben? Please?" She let out another little breath and the distance left her gaze. Could she still see the boy in him that she'd once spent an entire summer trailing after, stuck to his side, thick as thieves? "Not right now, at least."
