Bitch, I Don't Think So?
Who: Lady Godiva & Ash
Where: Ash's apartment
When: Monday night
Things hadn't felt right for Ash in a week now. Ever since expended every ounce of his energy, of all the power he had in him, to save all of his friends, he'd felt as if there was no more power, no more MAGIC, inside of him. He couldn't seem to do anything right now, not even make a sinple piece of paper levitate. But at least he had Lucy back. To him, that was all that mattered right now. His sister was getting married soon, his friends were safe, and his girlfriend was back. To him? All was well, as he relaxed on his sofa, reading a novel in silence.
Despite her reservations of the spell this Ash person had cast, Irene couldn't let it ruin her relationship with Kevin. He meant much more than that to her, but in order to protect her boyfriend from any possible future repercussions, Irene needed to know what Ash did.
Dressed in her more usual attire, she wore a paire of red vinyl plat wedge boots that came up to her thighs where black leggings were stuffed into the boots. She wore a lightweight tunic red sweater that matched the boots and in her hait, she added a few red hair extensions along with the black dye tips of her blond hair. She'd curled it, and the curls bounced as she walked up the driveway and if Kevin had seen her, would probably drowning in a puddle of his own drool. Stuffing the scrap of paper Meredith had given her into her black shoulder bad, Irene jammed her thumb against the doorbell and waited.
Blinking, Ash hopped nimbly to his feet, walking over to the door. Opening it, his first instinct was to wonder if someone had sent him a strip-o-gram or something. Those who knew him would have laughed at his appearnce: even relaxing at home in his pajamas, he was clad entirely in black. "...can I help you?"
"Are you. . ." Irene paused to pull out the scrap of paper again, reading off his name, "Ashton Kowalski?" Stuffing the paper away again, blue eyes looked at him, taking in his appearance. What was it with her and guys who like to dress in black?
"Depends who's asking, really." He may have been pretty much powerless right now... but one thing going through what Ash had gone through in his short life did was make you pretty unafraid of most things. "Who are you?"
Irene's crimson glossed lips curved into a smile and she offered Ash her hand, "I'm Lady G, Kevin's girlfriend."
"Oh." Ash just gave what for him, passed as a polite smile. "Look... it wasn't a big deal. He's a nice guy, and he didn't deserve what happened to him. I'm glad to have been able to help."
"Um, right, er. . ." Her hand fell to her side and she fidgeted, "Ash, that's only part of why I'm here. . ." Irene's smiled again, "While I am grateful for what you did, I'm. . .concerned of how you did it." The witch and bassist sighed a little bit, "Might I come in? This isn't really the sort of conversation you'd want to have in the hallway, now is it, love?"
"I suppose not. Come on in." He said, his voice cold and flat. Not on purpose, mind, he was just not a very happy person unless he was with his sister or his girlfriend. "So is this where I get the 'abuse of power' speech? Because I assure you, I've heard it all already. I'm not proud of the things I had to do, but to keep the people I love safe? I'd do it all again."
Well that was very disconcerting to hear, but Irene wisely kept her trap shut about that. At least he was smart enough to realize that and she grinned sardonically at him, "Well, I guess I can skip that part of the conversation. While that is troubling, my main concern is where you obtained the power." Her grin faded away, to be replaced by worry on her brow, "Look, I'm sure you're quite capable of handling yourself. But, um. . .I just need to know so I can prepare."
"Couple years ago... a man back in Sunnydale helped me channel every dark magic you could possibly imagine. Eventually... I came to realize how bad he was using me. And since then...." he sighed, sitting back down. "I've done everything in me to use those magic to do GOOD things."
Irene couldn't help it she scoffingly laugh, "Well, you know what the saying you American's like say, 'The road to hell is paved with good intentions.'" She sighed, closing her eyes and forcing herself to be civil about this. She took a seat, screw politeness for one bloody moment. Opening her eyes to look at Ash, she asked, "Will this man ever come here and say you owe him?"
"Doubtful. But I hope he does." Ash gave a smile that, despite his small stature, made him look vaguely frightening. "Bastard had my sister murdered, just to turn me fully evil. He's got a lot of suffering coming his way if we ever meet again."
Her heart fluttered in her chest at this knowledge and she lightly bit her lower lip in worry. After a moment she asked, "What were his. . .tastes? What did he do the most?"
"He was... strangely nice. Like something out of a 50's sitcom. Until you crossed him. And he hated germs." He still felt like laughing, even now, when trying to describe Mayor Wilkins. "Wanted to become a demon of some sort. But... I got away from his influence, clearly. And if it helps... between helping Kevin and saving my friends... I feel like I have nothing left in me. At all."
Before she could stop herself, Irene bitingly retorted, "Good, perhaps you'll think twice before using power that isn't yours to use." Irene regretted it as soon as the words were out of her mouth. It wasn't like her to be this. . .mean, but did so dislike people who abused their power.
"Then perhaps you'd rather your boyfriend be miserable and hurt. And perhaps you'd rather have all the people that defend us, every single night, be dead. Because that's exactly what would have happened if I *hadn't* used my powers." Yeah. Ash? Was pissed now. "I didn't do ONE THING for myself here. I saved the livlihood of a talented young man that my Lucy adores with every fiber of her being. I saved the lives of a group of people that, without them, this world would be in severe danger. If you expect me to apologize for that... then I suggest you not hold your fucking breath."
"And what happens when you have no power left because you dabbled in forces that should not be dabbled in? How will you help your friends then?" Irene stood, meekly adding, "This was a mistake. I apologize for disturbing you," She glanced at the book he'd set aside, "Thank you for what you did for Kevin, I am grateful for that." Irene moved to the door, sensing that he wasn't exactly in a gentlemenly mood to open it for her, turning in the door way when she opened it, "Good night." She said curtly, pulling the door closed.
"God DAMMIT!" Ash exclaimed, throwing a bowl across the room, falling in an angered heap onto the couch as it shattered against the wall.
