Serious Business
Who: Lucy OT Cassie, Janie
Where: The Beverly Center
When: Sunday afternoon (September 20)
Unfortunately, Lucy'd had to back out of shopping on Friday after school, but she'd rescheduled with Cassie and Janie for today and she'd been looking forward to it all weekend. There were only a few things Lucy loved more than shopping. Playing her guitar (and subsequently rocking out in front of a crowd), spending time with Ash, and…well, that might have been it. Now she was standing inside the holiest of holies, the eight-story monolithic tribute to American consumerism. And it was beautiful.
"Okay, where to first?" she asked. They were hanging near the escalators and elevators by the small food court on the first level. Lucy looked every bit the savvy chic mallrat in her short Armani Jeans skirt, blue-and-purple Marc Jacobs halter, and matching purple Valentino peep-toe platform slingbacks. Her long blonde hair hung free in loose, soft curls and she'd used her Prada sunglasses as a makeshift headband to hold the golden strands back from her face.
She didn't really wait for either girl to answer. "I was thinking we could start on the sixth floor. Hit bebe, Just Cavalli, Cache, Calvin Klein, Godiva, Kenneth Cole, D&G, and Aldo, then up to the seventh for Steve Madden, Coach, Armani Exchange, Victoria's Secret – 'cause, I mean, you have to have something nice to wear under your dress, right? – Dior, Gucci, Ferragamo, and Louis Vuitton. That should, most likely, take care of dresses, shoes, and accessories. And Sephora and M.A.C. for makeup. And we can look in Macy's and Bloomingdale's too. Just in case." There. As a game plan, that didn't sound so bad, right? Oh, yes. This was serious business.
