Freakin' AWESOME!
Who: Lucy and David
Where: Chloe's Sugar Shack
When: Friday morning
Now that everyone – or almost everyone – was back and Lucy knew that Ash was going to be okay, there was someone else on her mind. Actually, there was a whole heck of a lot spinning around up there, but first and foremost, she wanted to see David and make sure he'd made it out in all one piece. She didn't have any doubts, mostly because she hadn't heard anything, but that might have had something to do with the fact that she'd spent most of the night in Ash's hospital room before the nurses had come around and told her she couldn't stay any longer and that visiting hours had ended hours ago. Not to mention, once she'd gotten home, she'd found out they had a strange girl sleeping in one of the guest bedrooms. The way Chloe had explained it, her name was Bella and she used to be Ami, but not really. Lucy hadn't met Ami, but she knew about her from what Cassie had told her, and she felt sorry for her friend because she knew this would only complicate things between her and Andrew. Man, was she ever going to get used to all of this supernatural stuff? She'd missed the last two days of school and, with a little pleading, she'd gotten out of it again today. It meant she was going to have a whole lot of work to catch up on, but it was worth it to be able to spend time with the people she loved. She'd called Ash first thing in the morning to tell him she'd be by a little bit later and then she'd gone to the Sugar Shack for a hearty breakfast of coffee. She'd lingered there, helping out a bit and keeping herself busy until she just couldn't wait any longer and had to call David. She hadn't wanted to wake him, but she just HAD to know how he was doing. Plus, she just wanted to see him. It was a little disappointing, but he was probably going to want that extra key back.
David couldn't help but laugh when Lucy called him. The girl had the gift of ramble for sure. Still... he rushed to meet her at the Shack. Aside from being her protector (laugh all you want... but that was a vow the Bale family took seriously), David needed that key back. After all... he had something better in mind for her now. Walking in, the huge man sat down across from her and chuckled. "Told ya I'd be back..."
Lucy almost launched herself right across the table in her attempt to wrap her arms around his neck and hug him for all he was worth. "Oh, gosh, I'm glad to see you. You're not hurt, are you? You're okay?" She eyed him critically, as if she were some kind of mind-reading doctor who knew all and saw all. But that wasn't exactly the case. "I mean, I guess you wouldn't be walking around if you weren't okay and I'm just so glad you're back. Ash is okay, too." She smiled when she said it and blushed just a little as well.
"Hey, hey... I'm fine, kid." David grinned, holding out his hand. "Keys, kiddo. That's my favorite bike." He laughed then, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Besides... Once you turn 16, we gotta get you a liscence... And teach you to ride a cycle. Cuz I restore and repair bikes.. And I'm making you a special one that's alllll yours."
"ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME?!?!?" To say the girl was excited was an understatement. "Ohmygod!" As if she could stay seated now. Jumping up, she hopped into the other side of the booth next to him and gave him another hug. "Seriously? Are you really, really, really serious? That would be so freakin' AWESOME!" Lucy Van Warren. Rock star. With a BIKE. "That makes it hurt a little less to give this back." Dropping the wolf head keychain into his palm, she still couldn't help but grimace a little. But it passed in the blink of an eye and she rested her head against his large arm. "I'm really glad you're back. And...I mean...you know...we COULD probably start those lessons before I actually try to get a license." Hint, hint. She batted those baby blues at him with a great big smile.
"Don't push your luck." He laughed, shaking his head. "I'm supposed to protect you, not get you arrested or smeared all over the road. Turn sixteen. Get a permit. Then we'll talk." Then another grin. "But, yes. I'm very serious."
"Awww man. Like you'd let anything bad happen to me!" She unfailingly trusted that he wouldn't. It was just the way things were. When he'd said he'd have her back, she totally believe him. "All right," Lucy sighed. "I can't WAIT until I turn sixteen!!!"
