He turned on the couch so that he was facing her, and reached out and took her hand. If he even noticed that it was cold, he didn't show it. "I do wish things were different. I wish that we had been given a chance to actually grow up together, or figure out that we were wrong for each other and move on, if it came to that. I don't think that it would have, but even that would have been better than loosing you."
