What wasn't easy? She tilted her head a bit as she looked up at him. If the years had taught her anything, it was patience. Then again, in life, although she'd had a bit of a wild streak - hell, she'd gotten knocked up, hadn't she? - she'd been a good girl. It was the way her parents had raised her. She'd never been prone to flights of rage or temper. That had all changed when she'd been turned, but she'd managed to assert some control over herself over time.
"Leaving you. Leaving Meredith. It wasn't easy, but it was what I had to do." Or...at least she'd thought it was. They'd been so young and her daughter had been so tiny. She'd watched them that first night. She'd watched Jack and the human part of her had ached for what he must have thought...while the demon in her had been entranced by the beat of his heart, his scent that she could still smell on her clothes, and the lush, tender expanse of his throat....
She looked away now. How could Meredith stand to be in the same house as him? How was she able to stay and resist the temptation every night?
