Who: Satsu and Purity Where: Avarice When: Friday Night
Avarice. The music, the ambiance, the dancing... this was Satsu's natural element. She felt odd coming to Los Angeles instead of Sunnydale when she came back to the States, but from the moment she'd come here? She was glad she did. Tonight, she wore a pleated schoolgirl mini (more a comedic shout-out to wonderful stereotypes than anything) with a midriff-baring Green Lantern t-shirt, a black beret on her head bearing it's usual Watchmen logo pin. She wasn't sure what the song was, but it had a heavy, brutal, slow beat, and she found herself moving to it, even though she wasn't really trying.
LA wasn't terribly different from Las Vegas, which was helpful for the witch. Once she had arrived and found a place to stay, she had grabbed food and headed out. Purity wanted to see what the night life was like, more specifically, she wanted to find somewhere that played good music and served cold drinks. Avarice seemed to be that place. The crowd outside as she passed had initially sparked her curiosity. Inside it was much bigger than it looked, the dance floor was packed and the music was loud enough for the witch to feel it in her throat. With a grin, she began to edge her way in between people, being five foot eight had its advantages when you wanted to see past people. Though with her height came rather big feet, and while she wasn't clumsy she did have a tendency to stand on toes by accident.
Satsu had been, well, not exactly dancing, per se, but just kind of shuffling around to the music, when she almost gave an NHL-worthy hip check to the taller woman, nearly knocking her over. Yeah, Satsu was a lot smaller... but Slayer strength has it's advantages, yes? She cutely winced, nibbling her lower lip. "Oh... crap... sorry!"
Purity for her part was caught somewhere between shock and humiliation that came with almost falling on her ass. In an attempt to stay upright, her slender hands frantically reached for the nearest thing, which was unfortunate for the guy who's shirt she grabbed. Feet now firmly on the ground, Purity awkwardly tapped the man's shoulder, "Sorry about that." Green eyes then moved to find the culprit, and any anger she might have felt melted to be replaced by something else. Flustered, the witch cleared her throat, palms slapping against her black pants, "Don't worry about it, I'm fine."
"Yeah... you sure are..." The Japanese girl muttered, looking her over. Hey... Satsu was a lot of things, but shy? Never one of them. "So... considering I almost steamrolled you with my hilariously rhythm-less self... let me make it up to you with a drink?" Of course, Satsu had no idea who the woman was, or if she even liked girls. It occurred to her that she was probably seeming like the world's biggest ho right now... but she was in too good, too flirty, of a mood to really care right now.
For a moment Purity just stood there, her red button down shirt open to reveal a simple black T-shirt under it, thumbs hooked inside her belt loops. There wasn't nearly as much effort put into her clothes as the petite girl standing in front of her, but they looked good on her all the same. The girl was young, that was obvious, but there was something about the brazen way she had hit on her that compelled the witch to agree. Besides, who would say no to a girl like that? She was beautiful, although 'hot' was the phrase that popped into Purity's mind. "Alright." The witch grinned, "Lead the way." She swept her hand in front of her.
Satsu briefly gave a silent 'yes!' inside her head, and walked the older girl over to the bar. Damn those stupid bracelets they made the under-21s wear here... the Slayer sat on a stool at the bar, patting an empty one beside her. "So... got a name? Or should I just call you 'innocent bystander'?"
Letting her hands rest on the bar, the witch turned to look at the girl as she laughed. "At least you didn't hit and run." Shifting slightly so she could hold her hand out, the taller of the two said, "I'm Purity, and you are...? I don't want to call you 'hey girl' all night." The witch's tone was teasing.
"Name's Satsu. Satsu Ezaki." She took Purity's hand, and, in the midst of shaking it, smirked and brought it to her lips sweetly. Well? If her gaydar WAS malfunctioning, she'd surely pull away after that anyway.
Purity felt the heat rise up her neck as a blush burned it's way over her skin. She should be cautious, really, shouldn't she? The witch was finding it a little difficult to think properly, since those lips had touched her hand. "Nice to meet you, Satsu Ezaki." Much to her own dismay, she heard the drop in her own voice, and promptly cleared her throat again. "I'll have whatever you're having." Even though she desperately felt like having a drink of something stronger than soda or fruit juice.
"You sure about that?" The Slayer asked with a smirk. "I'm only having soda because my fake ID isn't done yet. No need to suffer on my behalf..." With a chiming little laugh, wondering what had gotten into her tonight to be so... forward.
On second thoughts, as Satsu continued to watch her, Purity found herself swallowing... Hard. While it may not be her best decision, it was the one that screamed the loudest and she began to nod. "In that case, I'll have a beer." Teeth bit into the inside of her lip, as she tried to get a grip of herself.
Satsu nodded and flagged down the bartender. CJ, she thought the girl had said her name was. "Hey! Beer for my friend here?" She glared as CJ shook her head. "Look... it's not for me, ok? You can freakin' WATCH me, if you like." Finally, the girl behind the bar laughed, poured a beer from the tap into a frosted mug, and slid it right past Satsu, to the taller girl near her. "Alrighty then." Satsu said with an indignant laugh. "So what brings you to this..." she winced a little. "extremely loud locale tonight?"
Purity waved towards the bartender, lifting her chin slightly as if to show the woman that it was indeed for her. When the glass slid up the bar, the witch cradled it against her palm and took the liberty of having a large gulp while Satsu spoke. Briefly, Purity laughed, then caught herself. For the first time since meeting the girl, she felt herself relax. "I bet you ask all the girls that." The witch teased, a smile curling her lips, "Just got into town, felt like unwinding."
"Nah. I have much better pickup lines than that for 'all the girls'..." she put it out there, making it clear that she indeed DID talk 'to the girls'. "And another newbie... awesome. I'm new here too. See that? Newbies tend to gravitate to one another."
The witch quirked an eyebrow, then took another drink of her beer, only to set it down on the bar afterwards. She moved then, so that she could lean down to make her green eyes level with Satsu's. Purity had heard so many chat up lines that they could fall out of her ears. Reaching around she carefully let her fingers find the tag of the girls top, saying teasingly, "Just checking to see if you were made in heaven." Then she stood straight again, amusement tugging at her lips as she added, "Could I borrow a kiss? I promise to return it later." Oh yeah, she knew a lot of chat-up lines.
Oh man. Even living in another country most of her life, Satsu knew a shit line when she heard it. The 'heaven' thing made her roll her eyes and laugh out loud, and then, when she heard that second part? She thought for a moment. "Well... I dunno... that was a mighty lame pickup line before it..." she grinned sweetly, resting her chin on her hand. "If I say yes.. what do I get outta the deal?"
Purity laughed and shook her head, "Oh I wasn't being serious, I was just showing my knowledge of cheesy pick up lines, you know, like..." The witch tilted her head to the side, smiling warmly to show she wasn't mocking the girl, "What brings you to a place like this, kind of thing." Then she took another sip of her beer, "Why, were you hoping I meant them?"
Not that Satsu was lacking self-confidence (she wasn't, after all), but sometimes? When you know almost nobody, and the two good friends you DO have are seeing each other? You do tend to get lonely. "Maybe..." she said with a slightly embarrassed laugh. "I'm not usually so... forward, or trampy sounding. So, I'm feeling a little silly as it is."
Purity considered this, and let her eyes wash over the girl slowly."Hey..." The witch used the tip of two fingers to hook under the girls chin in order to bring her eyes up to meet Purity's, "You do not sound like a tramp, alright? Never think that. If it makes you feel better..." The witch took her hand back, only to rub the base of her neck, "The last one I kind of did mean." Alright, so she just made it clear that she was interested, but Purity couldn't help herself.
"Dunno if this matters..." she laughed, "it's not a big deal where I'm from, but I know it kinda is here... I'm still a few months shy of turning 18. Yeah, I know... I'm kind of being overly cautious. But still. Gotta put that out there..."
Purity sighed heavily, and pressed her lips together, as if she were dreading what she was about to say. "I don't mind, but I think you might." The witch shrugged lightly, "I turned 25 in April. You can walk away any time." And it was clear that Purity believed she would,
But... far from walking away, Satsu acted. Hey... nobody said this had to be anything lasting. She was feeling like a lonely third wheel right now. Can you blame her for leaning in quickly, pressing her soft lips against those of the other woman?
At first Purity froze when Satsu moved up to touch her lips against the witch's. She could only imagine the girl was on her tips toes, so she leaned down, pushing her lips against the girls a little more firmly. In the back of her head she knew she probably shouldn't be doing this, but the witch was selfish, and that warm mouth felt good against hers.
After enjoying the rather innocent kiss for a few seconds, the Japanese girl pulled away, giving a grin far more girly and sweet than she knew herself capable of. "Wow. That was nice..."
Purity felt the blush rise up her neck and taint her pale cheeks. She was thankful that the clubs lights were dimmed, hopefully the younger girl wouldn't notice then. The tip of a pink tongue touched against her lower lip, as if savoring the taste. "Yeah, it was. I kinda think that's the point the, huh?" She teased with a crooked grin.
"Yeah, it is." Satsu grinned to herself, wondering which side of her she should allow to win the current battle in her head: rational, normal Satsu, or lonely, needs-some-lovin' Satsu. Sigh. Yeah... Rational, Normal Satsu was kinda booted to the curb right there. "You know... can't say I'd be totally against having it happen again..."
The witch was thanking her lucky stars, while she seemed the type to always be around people, the truth was she wasn't. The majority of her time was spent alone. Solitude was no stranger, which was possibly why she longed for contact. "Really?" The witch sounded calm, however, in one quick move that glass was brought back to her mouth and the rest of its contents vanished in three large gulps. Wiping her mouth, she took a deep breath and gave the girl a curious look, "I wouldn't say no."
Satsu tilted her head, slowly, and this time took her time in moving towards the other girl. Damn it to hell, if she was gonna act like a little trollop, she could at least enjoy it. This time, she just gave an adorable little purr as their lips touched again.
It was with all her will power that Purity stayed stock still until those lips touched hers again. Eyes closed as she decided that this time, she would kiss her properly. One hand lifted to tentatively brush into the girls hair, lips parting slowly in order to catch Satsu's lower lip, drawing it into her mouth to suckle on for a second or two before releasing it again.
A myriad of thoughts went through the younger girl's mind right then... all of them essentially adding up to the same conclusion: her roommates weren't due home for HOURS. With the devil on one shoulder giving the angel on the other a kick in the ass that sent it sprawling to the floor, she grinned wickedly and gave a little shrug as she finally pulled back a little. "We could always take this somewhere... more private, you know."
Purity felt her jaw go slack, and tried to recover by bringing her hand up to cough. She shouldn't say yes to that, she didn't even know the girl, in fact she should be walking away right now, she was older and should know better, right? All those thoughts all returned to the same conclusion, but her body was saying something entirely different. Would it kill her if she threw caution to the wind? Well, she hoped not, at least. "I..." Should be going. "I..." Should not be still standing here, "I really want to say yes to that." Shit, she was supposed to think it, not say it.
"Thank god..." Satsu muttered, more to herself, until she realized she'd said it aloud. "What I mean is... thank god you're as nervous here as I am... I mean what I asked though. I'm just really freaked out, because I'm not normally this... I don't know... easy?"
Purity blinked, then sighed as her anxiety levels lowered, enough for her to laugh a little. "Neither am I." Which begged the question, why was she now? Of course, there were rather obvious reasons, but that hadn't mattered in the past. "Alright, I have an idea. We swap five pieces of information about ourselves each, until we get to your place, if we still feel like complete strangers then nothing has to happen?" Okay, where the hell had that come from? Probably her own nerves, which were bubbling inside her. "I lived in Las Vegas for five years, I don't own any pets, I have more books than I do clothes, I will never walk into the sea, and my zodiac sign is Aries."
So much for waiting until 'on the way'. She laughed, and threw out five random facts about herself. "I grew up in Tokyo, Japan. I speak English better than most American kids I know. I love American comics, and own an embarrassing amount of them. Um.... I have an almost sick addiction to using different flavors of lip gloss, and..." think, dammit! Think! "Um... I could watch baseball all day, every day."
Purity grinned, shaking her head at herself she then ran her fingers through her hair. "I guess I'm following you then, since I don't know where you live." The witch was teasing, but she let the girl lead her through the club until they were walking outside. The witch took in a breath of fresh air before continuing. "I love horror movies, I sometimes drink milk out of the carton, I only like black coffee, I like nature more than I like people." A quick glance was given to Satsu, "Usually. I have always wanted to build an igloo since I was kid and saw one tv."
