New Friendship
Who: Buffy and Ginny
Where: Eden
When: Wednesday Night
Buffy dangled her legs off of the bar stool as she watched the band play up on stage at Eden. It wasn't one that she was familiar with, considering that she was coming here more and more often these days, but they were still pretty good. She sipped at her coke and sort of lost herself in thought for a moment while listening to the song playing. Training had been crazy hard lately, but it was exactly what she needed and, if she didn't say so herself, she was doing damn good at it. Still, after her training tonight, she wanted a little time off. Time away from thinking about people being attacked and this wicked battle coming up, to quote Faith a little. Buffy wasn't exactly looking forward to it, but it was her duty, so it was something that she would do.
Ginny was enjoying being the spectator for once. She'd been watching the couple of local garage bands that had taken up the stage tonight, admiring their tenacity and drive, if not their dubious lack of real talent. Still, something had to be said for truly trying. Yeah, Ginny was far too nice. Tonight, the vocalist wore a long black gown, something like a mix of what Elvira and Morticia Addams would wear. On her arms were her usual elbow-length black gloves. She looked over, seeing Buffy, who not only looked a little out of place, but looked like someone had just spiked her drink with downers. "Hey..." she said in her low, husky whisper of a voice. "You ok?"
Buffy blinked and realized that someone was talking to her. "Oh...yeah, I guess," she said. "Not exactly living it up right now." She turned at got a better look at the girl. "Hey, you're the singer for Coma White, right?"
"Well... yeah. Sort of." Ginny laughed, giving a slightly exasperated sigh. "We're changing the name. We... fired our guitarist recently, and she'd come up with the name. I want to be rid of anything that had to do with her." And then Ginny blushed lightly. "And I completely rambled there, when you asked me one little question. Sorry."
"No, it's OK," Buffy said. "That's good to know, actually. I wasn't here for the guitarist firing, but I definitely heard about it." Of course, what she had really heard about was what she had turned into after. That was more due to her work, though. "So, what are you guys called now?"
"We're... debating. I have a few I like, but I need to ok it with everyone before I make it public, you know?" The brunette smiled then, offering a hand to the girl. "I'm Ginny, by the way. Pleasure to meet you."
"Buffy," she said, shaking her hand. "I can understand that line of thinking. Don't want to say one thing before you end up going with another."
"I think I've seen you here before... becoming a regular?" She asked with a sweet grin. She really was a good mouthpiece for the band.
"A little bit," Buffy said. "I'm not a goth, so I fit in terribly here, but I'm starting to really enjoy some of the music, plus a few friends of mine like to come here."
"Oh gods..." she laughed, her giggle much sweeter than her voice would let on. "Don't ever think that way. Most of these kids wouldn't know a real goth if it bit them in the neck. These kids wear a lot of black, hang out at Hot Topic, and they think they're goth now. Trust me... you're not missing anything."
Buffy laughed. "I'm not even sure what a real goth is, honestly," she said with a shrug. "Still, I just kind of wear what I like and listen to what I like. It seems to work for me."
"And that makes you the kind of girl that SHOULD be in a club like Eden. That's what we love here... individuality." Ginny gestured to herself, as, other than the Elvira-esque dress, she really didn't look very 'goth' tonight herself. "I mean, do I really fit in that well right now? I like to get all dark and stuff to go onstage... but normally, this is how I look. Nothing wrong with NOT trying to blend in with the sheep, honey."
Buffy nodded. Ginny certainly had a point there. She looked down at her pink top and denim skirt. Still, she looked the anti-goth right now. It definitely got her some stares. Of course, back in her first high school, she made fun of these sorts of people. Even though she didn't do that anymore, she still didn't care what they thought about her. "Besides, individuality if fun."
"It is. It took me a lonnnng time to be comfortable with who I am. A long time and a lot of mistakes." Her inner strength was almost visible through her words, and she smiled. "But you know what? Now... I wouldn't change who I am for anyone." She blushed, shaking her head. "Ok, I can't even pretend. I am so in love with my girlfriend that if she asked me to shave my head and wear a mumu, I'd probably do it."
Buffy laughed. "I'm sure that she'd rather you not do those things. Most people usually avoid asking their significant others to shave their heads and wear mumus, although there is probably some sort of minority who loves that sort of thing."
"True. People DO have rather odd fetishes." She looked across the club and pointed, not really caring if anyone saw her. "Like that guy who ALWAYS wears the vinyl bodysuit and the gasmask. Seriously."
Buffy looked right at where she was pointing to. "Wow, I can't believe I never noticed that guy before."
"Oh, sweetheart... there's ALL types here." She pointed at a strange couple in the far corner, who both wore outfits consisting of hooks and chains. "Those two once asked me if I wanted to spend the evening piercing myself with them. I have NEVER been more glad to be gay than I was that night."
Buffy scrunched up her nose at the thought. "Ew much?" she asked. "That almost makes me want to turn on a dime right there. Good thing I have a someone already, though."
"Do you?" She asked, smiling. "Good... I hate to admit this... but I don't think anyone's ever happier than they are when they find that one special someone." She thought of Lexi and smiled sweetly. "You know? That one person who just fits you like a puzzle piece."
"Actually, I do know," Buffy admitted. She certainly had tried a lot to find the one person who fit with her, but now she was feeling like she had finally found him.
"Bring him, or her, or whoever... to one of our shows sometime." Ginny said, really liking something about this girl. Maybe it was the fact that she wasn't trying to be part of the crowd. "I'll make sure you guys get in, and get right up by the stage."
She smiled. "Thanks, I think that he'd really like that." Of course, that would be if they both survived the upcoming battle. Still, she had faith that they would do so, which meant planning for the future."
"If my girlfriend isn't too busy with her new band... maybe we'll all hang out sometime. You seem really nice." This was really the first in forever she'd talked to a stranger in this club without something weird or creepy happening.
"I think I'd like that, actually," Buffy said with a grin.
