Reunion
Who: Mere and Deanna
Where: The Heartbreak Club
When: Sunday Night
Mere just wanted to get away for a night. Away from Avarice, away from Ben, away from this war that was coming, away from everything. She wanted at least one night where she could forget everything. Of course, she was choosing this by going to s strip club. She wasn't too sure what to think of that, that strippers were her distraction. Guess that made her like every other Japanese businessman. She walked into the club and took a look around for a moment before sitting close to the stage.
A slightly older woman, looking to be close to forty, came sashaying over to her. She was attractive in a classy sense, and was dressed in a pink pantsuit. "Evening... I'm Peggy, a manager here. Here for the entertainment or a tryout?"
Mere grinned. Really, she couldn't turn off the charm if she tried. "Entertainment, for tonight at least. Got anyone you can recommend?"
"Hm." She looked around the club, then made a motion for someone to come to her. "Yeah, I think I do, actually. Our newest girl. She's got some good moves.. I think you'll like her. Have a good night." And as she walked away, Mere's eyes would fall on a girl that now stood in front of her. Her back was to Mere, and she clearly wore a pair of obscenely short white shorts, white knee-high boots, and a red bikini top. She shook her rear a little for Mere and laughed. "Helloooo... I'm Heather, and I'll be your entertainment for the evening..."
Mere let her eyes slide up and down the scantily clad beauty. "Entertainment, indeed," she purred. "Why don't you come over here and have a seat?"
Quickly, Deanna turned around, moving in to whisper in Mere's ear. "Thank you, by the way. You've saved me from an evening with three drunk truckers who tip like shit and have terrible breath."
Mere laughed. "Well, I neither have bad breath nor am I a drunk trucker," she said. She looked up and grinned at her. "I'm not a bad tipper, either."
"Well then... let's get to know each other a little better, hm?" She said, slipping into Mere's lap, straddling her. Then... she looked down, her eyes meeting the vampire's. "So, we're gonna have us a little danc...." she stopped then, her eyes widening. All those memory problems she'd had... it allll cleared right up. Sure, a few things still seemed stuck, but so much cleared up immediately. "Ohmygod... M-Mere???"
Holy mother of fucking god. She was so going to kick Gwen's Slayer ass for this, new baby momma or no. "Deanna?" Another flood of memories coursed through her head. She wasn't sure how many more times her brain could take this. Thank the gods for vampire healing, or she'd turn into a vegetable soon.
"I.... I...." she wasn't sure WHAT the hell had happened, but she knew it had to be SOMETHING supernatural. "Holy shit." She looked around, and seeing her boss watching her, started to grind on Mere a little. "Humor me. So you'll get good conversation AND something to tease me mercilessly about later."
"I think my brain is starting to sizzle," Mere muttered, but didn't stop her from the grinding, slipping a fifty into her shorts for good measure. "So...guess you're wondering what's up, right?"
"Yeah. Juuuuust a bit." She blinked, trying to remember to 'dance' as they talked. "Look... I dun' really care WHAT happened... you know I never got all the super-crap anyway. Are you alright?"
"OK, what happened was even a bit of a mind fuck for me," Mere admitted. "I'm doing alright, I guess." She shook her head. "OK, bit fat lie. I came out tonight to a strip club to forget my worries. Look, I'll pay for it and everything, since I was prepared to anyway, but can we just get a private room and talk? I'm never sure what I should say where these days."
"Yeah, no problem." She snorted. "I'll tell Peggy I'm gonna have The Sex with you or something, so they'll leave us alone. This place is so fucking trashy...."
"Whatever works," Mere said. Not like it hadn't happened before, but whatever. Now there were more important things to do than fuck.
Deanna got up, grabbing Mere by the hand and almost dragging her into the private room, where she slammed the door. "Ok, girl. Spill. You look ready to OFF yourself. What's going on? I know I'm missing months worth of memories, an we can totally talk about WHY that is later. Right now I just care about why my best friend looks ready to go walk off into a sunny afternoon."
Mere slumped down into the leather (or pleather, in this place) sofa and stared at her feet as she talked. "I'm the epic fuck up, Deanna. I do sort of want to through myself out of a window into the sun. I killed someone, Deanna. Well, I tried, anyway. Still, someone else ended up siring her and now we've got a real honest to god monster on the loose, and it's because of me."
"Oh, shit..." The blonde's already big eyes went even wider, and she threw a bear hug onto her friend. "Look... it'll be ok. I swear. We got each other again, right? That's all that matters. You know I always look out for you..."
Mere wrapped her arms around her friend. "That helps a lot, actually," she admitted to her. "There's a big battle coming. That firm has been using that...thing I helped create to attack people."
"Wait... firm?" She reddened there, face twisting into an unintentionally cute scowl. "As in... Wolfram & Hart?"
She nodded. "Where our lovely friend Lindsey came from," she pointed out. "I hear he's a big part of all of this, too."
"SonofaBITCH!" She blurted out, looking rather ridiculous, all mad and angry in that cute little getup. "I'm really gonna gut him, I swear."
"I know," Mere said with a nod. "He even encouraged one of those Slayer girls to turn coat and gut what was her only friend. Ben's PISSED." She didn't exactly like the fact that her boyfriend was going all knight for his ex.
"You're still with him?" She asked, somewhere between surprised and disappointed. "I still say you can do tons better. Nice guy, but.. no offense? Total skeez."
"Damnit, everyone keeps saying that," she mumbled, more to herself than anything. "I'm not even sure what to think about him right now, anyway."
"He means well... but..." She smiled, trying not to laugh, "Oh hell... right now all I care about is that you're back!"
Mere hugged her again. "I'm glad to have you back, too, babe."
Clearly, Deanna was taking this memory thing FAR better than most had. "Who'da thunk it, right? A lapdance reunites old friends..." she made a dramatic hand-to-heart gesture.
Mere snorted. "Lap dances are usually the things that break people up, especially private room ones."
"Well, we're far from 'most people', right?" She snickered. "The worst part? Peggy honestly think we're in here doing indecent things. This is one of the shadiest places I've ever worked, Mere. EVER. It's called The Heartbreak Lounge. You know why? Because Elvis' people found out it was called the Heartbreak Hotel, found out how sleazy it was, and threatened to press charges. That should tell you alllll you need to know." Well. Regardless, her rambling ways hadn't changed.
Mere laughed. "Well, we've got to find you a better joint to work at," she said with a shake of her head. "I can't have you in a place that Elvis sued. It's un-American."
"Yeah. Cuz classy strip joints.... those are so common." She rolled her eyes and laughed. "Stick to whipping me at board games, babe."
"There are a few," Mere pointed out. "Still, gotta be better out there than this."
"Ok, ok... a VERY valid point." She said with a laugh. This was the best thing that had happened in ages. She had her best friend AND her memories back. "Look. I need to get back out there and you know... keep my bills barely paid. But can I stop by tomorrow? Just... you know... catch up?"
"You lived with me before...didn't you?" Another memory out of the fog. "Why don't we just do that arrangement again? Should certainly help out with the bills, babe."
"Yeah, well..." she blushed a little there. "I wouldn't be putting you and Jack out much? I mean, I can help out a little, but until I find a better place, I'm not exactly raking it in."
"Like he cared before." Jack probably loved to see another pretty girl in the house, honestly. Some things never changed. "Don't worry about helping out. It'll be fine."
"Alright, alright." She laughed. "Pushy bitch, aren't ya?" She said teasingly, before hugging her again. "Jeez Louise... now I feel like I *should* sex you up in here."
Mere laughed. "Well, if you're offering..." she started, and then laughed again. "No need to pay with sex, either. It'll just be great to have you around again."
"It's gonna be like old times again..." Deanna said sweetly. "No more losing yourself, ok? Because now... you got me to find you."
"Thank the gods," she said, relieved. "I'm needing a little bit of old times myself."
