Unforgiven
Who: Faith and Candice OT Spike and Giles
Where: Candice's Place
When: Just After This Post (http://asylums.insanejournal.com/btvsa
Faith looked up at the place she was standing in front of, and then checked the address she had scribbled on a piece of paper again. This so couldn't be right. Not that Candi didn't deserve a pad such as this but...how the hell could she afford it? Did she get a sugar daddy? Some cute doctor or lawyer who she let tie her up and spank her in exchange for new digs? Faith certainly would be spanked for a place like this. Still, it matched the address that she was given, so she walked up and rang the doorbell.
When the door opened... Candi stood there in black vinyl pants and a matching red tank top, her hair tied back and a sneer on her face that was somehow a mix of sexy, predatory, and nervous. "Hey. C'mon in."
"Nice place you got here, Candi," Faith said, walking inside. The look on her face was a little weird, but Faith brushed it aside for right now.
"Yeah, well.... believe me. I'll be paying for it for a long, long time." Candi said with a sigh. God, if Faith only knew. "Not that anyone bothered to care if I was stuck in that little shit hole apartment or anything."
Faith wasn't really sure what to say to that for a moment. Someone rendering her speechless was a rare thing, but Candi had accomplished it in one fell swoop. "Better than being on the streets," she pointed out. "Still, this place is tight. Who got you the hook up?"
"A friend. Name's Lindsey." She turned, looking at Faith with a look that barely hid disgust. Whether it was at Faith, herself, or both... who knew? "Why... you jealous? For once... someone's actually jealous of what *I* have?"
Now this was just starting to get weird. "Just complimenting you on your place, Candi. No need to get a bug up your ass about it." She sighed. "Look, if this is a bad time, I can split."
"No, Faith. You really can't." As she said the words... two thick, black chains shot out from the ceiling, wrapping tightly around her wrists, and stretching her out as if she were about to be drawn and quartered.
"What the fuck?" she screamed as the chains whipped out. "Candi, if you're feeling kinky tonight, all you had to do was ask." Of course, those words sounded a lot more nervous than usual.
Candi spun around now, tears welling up in her eyes. "You really think I wasn't gonna get tired of being the Slayer everyone just kept around to make them feel better about themselves?" She was clearly delusional... but the sad part was W&H had her believing it. "You got a cushy house and a doting Watcher... everyone got something out of the deal... but what did *I* get, Faith? Huh? I got JACK. Nobody gave a DAMN about me! Do you know what it took to even get them looking for a Watcher for me???"
"I don't know...did you ever ask them to look for a Watcher for you?" Faith blurted out. Just what in the hell was going on here? "You did realize that the fucking Council got blown up, right? Probably by those fucking lawyers, too."
"Those 'fucking lawyers' are the onyl people who tried to help me, Faith." She blurted it out, looking her in the eyes. "I thought at least YOU liked me... loved me, even... but Lindsey made me see... that you left me to rot in that shithole while you got to enjoy your pretty new life..." her voice trembled, like she was struggling to believe it.
"Is that what you think?" Faith asked. "No one abandoned you, Candi. You barely ever talked to anyone about what you were going through. You never *once* told me any of this. Are you really going to believe some fucking lawyer over me because he got you a house? Fuck, I'd have had you staying with me and Giles in a heart beat if you had said how miserable you were, if that's what it was."
She closed her eyes, shaking her head. "No... they said you'd do this... that you'd try to talk me out of all this...." her eyes turned malice again. "I lived on the streets, Faith. For TWO YEARS. I ate garbage to survive. I'm never going back to that. Not for you, not for ANYONE!" She growled, producing a wicked knife from under the sofa cushion. "All I have to do is help them here... do what they asked me... and I'm set for life. I'll never be poor again, Faith. All I have to do is get rid of the people who CLAIMED to care."
"And I did, too!" Faith yelled back at her. "I know exactly where you came from because I was there, too. I would never have you go back to doing that again." Her eyes widened as she saw the knife. She looked Candi directly in the eyes, knowing that she wasn't going to be able to deter her from what she wanted to do now. "It was never just a claim, Candi. I do care. I always will care."
"YOU LIE!" She screamed, her face inches from Faith's. "Everyone lies when they think they're gonna die..." She held the knife against Faith's cheek, trying not to cry. "You think you can convince me now? Nobody cares about me, Faith. Nobody ever has! These lawyers don't either... but at least they're HONEST about it."
Faith felt tears prickling her eyes. "Believe what you want, Candi," she said, turning her face away from her. "You've been brainwashed, anyway. I know what I feel, and I said it to you. Obviously you don't believe me, but I know the truth."
"The truth?" She sneered, wiping away a few tears. "Here's your 'truth'. Faith: you can't trust ANYONE in this world. The day you give your trust away... is the day you become WEAK. And from this moment on.... I'm going to be strong. Every one of your little goody-two-shoes Slayer friends are going to die. EVERY. ONE. And when it's all over? I'll be the only one left. And then it'll be *my* turn to be special."
"If you think that's going to happen, then you're a goddamn fool, Candi," Faith pointed out. "All they are going to do is knock you off when they are done with you. You're not special to them at all. You were special to me because you were my friend."
"I HAVE NO FRIENDS!" She shrieked, and without thinking, she spun back around, stabbing the knife forward, a shiver running up her spine as she felt the blade slide into Faith's stomach like it was going through butter.
Faith grunted, and gurgled a little as some blood came up from her mouth.
With a growl, Candi grabbed Faith by the hair. There was no turning back, now. With brute force, she headbutted the other girl, then motioned toward the walls, as the chains suddenly dropped her.
Faith slumped to the ground, not really having the strength in her to do anything but.
"I'm sorry.... if it matters? You were the closest thing to a friend I ever had." And with that, she walked out the door, to leave the mess for Lindsey to clean up later.
