Most of the time anyway. Nodded when she told me her friend had done three tours in 'Nam. Being over there that long and living meant you were good and not just lucky.
"Firewood sounds like a good idea." Filled my arms with logs as it started to spit rain, the wind driving it with enough force that it stung hitting my face. Dropped the first load of wood on the hearth, following her in. "I'll grab some more. Want to get it started?"
Ducked back outside, the thunder almost shaking the ground it was so loud. Whole lot closer now too. Started refilling my arms and was getting the last stick when the downpour started. By the time I made it back to the door I was soaked through.
