Daenerys strolled through the marketplace of the town in search of something simple to eat. Ever since arriving in this place so suddenly, she hadn't felt much for meals or any sort of nourishment, though even she could not go long without food. As she took her time taking in all the different merchants in the area, she couldn't help but have a flashback of another time when she too was casually strolling through a market. It had felt like such a long time ago when she went in search of wine at the Western Market in Vaes Dothrak, only for one of Robert Baratheon's lackeys to attempt to assassinate her. It had been so long ago that it almost felt like it had been from another life, from when Drogo was still alive and riding free, from when she still felt Rhaego moving about inside her.
She hadn't had these thoughts in what felt like ages, and though she was a different person now -- far stronger and braver than before -- she still couldn't help but shudder with fear at the memory. Still, that had been the defining moment for her. It was what set into motion Drogo's untimely death. It was the threat to her life that ended his, and here she was now, in a strange land with no power, no allies, no family.... no dragons. Discreetly, she pressed a hand to her middle as another disturbing thought came to pass. Viserion. She could still remember that horrible day, and it always felt the same way -- as if the spear that killed him had pierced her own heart as well. Just like with Drogo and her beloved Rhaego, a part of her died along with Viserion as well. And she wondered mirthlessly just how much of her was left now.
Stopping in front of a fruit merchant, she picked up a peculiar looking fruit and turned it over in her hand, examining it closely. "Excuse me," she said, her eyes blinking up at the woman behind the cart. "I'm not from around here, and I've never seen a fruit like this. Would I be able to eat this raw?" She had no idea what it tasted like either, but she needed something just to keep her going for a bit there. The lady assured her that she could, wherein Daenerys offered her the appropriate coinage in exchange for the fruit. "Good day," she said and walked off, taking a bite of the fruit. Except... "Ugh, this tastes awful!"
