"You will soon enough," he promised before they went inside to speak. He'd relaxed into his chair since then, but pulled a few small journals out of his pack. They'd be pertinent later on. "This is possibly my favorite place in the city. It's one of the first places I found kinship, here. The Companions became like a second family to me once I joined their ranks. My Shield-Siblings, I call them. They're good people."
"When I was put in the back of that carriage, we were taken to a small settlement in Falkreath Hold. It's - well, it was called Helgen. The Imperial Legion was supposed to execute Ulfric Stormcloak that day for high treason, but things didn't go quite as planned. It was my turn at the chopping block..." he explained, his expression darkening. "I was already on my knees, leaning over the block and waiting for the headman's axe to end it all. And then - it happened. Over the tower, I saw a dragon. It perched on the tower just above me... And for just a moment, my eyes met with Alduin - the bringer of the end times. I'd never been so scared in my life. As soon as it broke eye contact, it let out this roar. The sky darkened and large flaming rocks starting pelting out of the sky, crashing into buildings. It caused quite the stir."
He continued to detail how he'd escaped with the help of Hadvar - the Imperial soldier that'd known he'd never been destined for the chopping block from the beginning. It took some time but he eventually detailed how he'd come to find himself as the Dragonborn, what it all meant, and finally he opened one of the journals he'd pulled out. "This is a dossier on Ulfric Stormcloak. I stole it from Elenwen's Solar," he informed her. "This dossier states the Thalmor here never wanted the Empire or the Stormcloaks to win the Civil War. Which means, they're up to something awful. I've got my suspicions, but I suspect they'll be planning an attack soon. Which is why I'm going to make sure they make the biggest mistake they've ever made."
His tone in that last sentence was downright menacing, but he had more than enough justification. "This country's safety and stability is in shambles, Elissa. Between the Civil War and the dragon crisis, I can't begin to tell you how much Skyrim has needed a better ruler - a better protector. Ulfric wanted to be High King for the glory, but what good is that when everybody is trying to kill each other?"
