It was pretty simple: all Lee had to do was order her to tell him everything. If she didn't, he'd have no choice than to throw her in hack for insubordination. Anne would either obey her CO like the good soldier she'd been trained to be, or stick to her guns with the moral confidence her parents and grandparents had tried to raise her with. But something in the back of Lee's mind stopped him just before the order left his lips.
Instead, Lee reached up to his uniform tunic, tugged the wide Senior Pilot wings from its place and placed the badge in his pocket.
"Not 'sir', Anne, not with this."
He sighed. "Gaeta reported back some scuttlebutt from the pilots' lockers he thought I'd want to hear. Something about you and Nicholas Tyrol being..." Lee just about choked on the word "... married. Is it true?"
