"No, you don't need heels." Emmeline said, scrunching her nose up at Cindy who was still trying to select footwear suitable for the night's meeting. "I don't wanna listen to you complaining about how much pain your feet are in halfway there. Especially in those things." She stepped up, taking the yellow platforms away from her friend and placing them back in the closet. As much as she loved Cindy, sometimes she wished the girl would just learn to be a little less dramatic, and a bit more practical. Especially in these months where she couldn't quite deal with the hysteria about grey hairs or unsightly pimples. By May those things would be absolutely hilarious again and she'd appreciate it for what it was, but right now, not so much.
Leaving Cindy to search through her shoes to find some ballet flats that would match, Emmeline dropped back down onto the bed, lying back. The fact that both Claire and Reid had shared a similar dream which seemed to point toward something bad happening to the 'Halloween twins' had her a little worried. Not so worried that she wouldn't go out on her own, as was proven the other night when she'd finally decided to go out with Dani, even if that decision hadn't been her best. But when things were quiet, and she wasn't distracted by anything else, she thought about the possible significance of those dreams. How often could you change the future when you didn't know how what was written would come about? Maybe they should stay indoors, or just not speak to each other for a few months, but either of those options gave as much chance of getting in trouble as the next. She sighed heavily, feeling like she sank further into the mattress, like the weight of the world was pushing her down. Why did they have to have dreams about her? Why couldn't it be Sian, or anyone else who was an utter bitch. Not that Sian had a power that she would recognise, but if it meant that she wouldn't feature in other people's dreams with the possibility of them becoming a reality, she was willing to let anyone else take the fall.
A knock at the door forced her to move, since it was quite obvious Cindy wasn't ready to answer. Heaving herself up, a task which seemed to take a lot more effort than it should, Emmeline made her way out of the room to the door of the apartment. Checking the peep hole, she nodded to herself upon seeing Christian and Tori standing on the other side of the door. It didn't matter that no one else could see her visual confirmation, or that no one had asked for it. She still needed to do it. Flipping the safety catches off the door, she opened it up and forced a smile. "Cindy's still looking for shoes. She'll be a few secs." She stated, turning once more towards the bedroom. "Right bitch?" She yelled. "They're here! Just put on some fucking sneakers. It doesn't really matter." Which was met with a plaintive "It matters to meee!" from her best friend.
