Setting her jaw, looking away, Meghan took a moment before replying. What Mike was saying made sense, of course it did. But her whole life, her entire fantasy of freedom, was based on the fact that their mother could be bought off. That she wouldn't notice her two unwanted children had run off and out from under her thumb. That she and Oliver's tentative new start could come crashing down so easily was the thing that kept her up at night. It was also the problem to which she didn't have a solution.
