There was a little jump in her stomach as his arm slid around her shoulders, tucking her neatly into the curve of his side. Lexi reached up to gently touch her fingers against his, smiling a little at the gesture. It felt nice, comforting, and she felt at ease with him. As if, despite just meeting a moment ago, they were old and dear friends. As if she trusted him completely.
"So you're my rock, then?" she laughed, two fingers curling around his thumb as they walked. "Or the string to my kite?" They made their way down the street, Buddy's arm heavy and warm, her head occasionally touching his shoulder, briefly leaning against him.
The bar was close and quiet and Lexi found a corner booth. Shrugging off her jacket, she slid in and smiled. "What'll it be? I can tell a lot about a person from their alcohol choice."
