He arrived early, but hung back, watching. The Lady did love to watch, after all, and it was better to do so than to rush into situations, than to allow this new temper and fresh, young emotions to rule the day. Nathan finally came up a few minutes before the appointed time, nodding his head in greeting, pausing a couple of steps away.
"Thank you for coming," he said quietly, grey eyes quickly studying Mike's face, noticing the irritation, the familiar expression, tamping down the surge of fear (not for himself, but for what might be, what might already be set into motion, things that cannot change no matter how much he wishes) and keeping anything but penitent guilt out of his tone. "I know I'm the last person you want to see. I won't waste a lot of your time."
