Really, she'd had enough of sulking. A day of it was her limit. Not that she felt enormously better - the things bouncing around inside her head wouldn't allow that, really - but she had to at least pretend she was a semi-functional adult. Besides, Lexi felt an...obligation of sorts. Nathan couldn't work - she heard him banging around in there all day, and he came in around the same time every day in obvious pain, grumping for coffee and sulking in a corner - and she knew he was worried. His shop had to be suffering. The least Lexi could do was pay her rent on time.
Her cherry apron tied firmly around her waist, she forced a perky smile and carried a coffee cup over to the girl who'd just settled in. "Hi," she said, sliding the mug onto the table next to the laptop. "First time here?"
Hey, what could she say? Lexi had a sixth sense about when people needed coffee.
