She was the last one to sit, reluctantly, as if both the men, one on either side, are vipers or some kind of trap she was about to fall into. Which was more true than she realizes, and more inevitable than she'd like to admit. Nathan doesn't come back because, Lexi realized all at once, he didn't plan on it. He was leaving her alone with them.

"Okay," she said, folding her hands together like a child waiting punishment, lacing and unlacing her fingers, eyes hooked down on them. Lexi sat in the chair looking to small, too slim and unprepared for whatever was going to happen, expecting the absolute worst even while she couldn't put her finger on what that worst was. "Okay," she tried again, clearing her throat, glancing up at both of them. "What's happening. Both of you, I feel..."
She trails off with a little shake of her head, gaze dropping again. "This is very weird."
