A quick, pained smile and Nathan shrugged. "He did sleep with your wife, Arthur. You might be out for revenge." There was more there that he didn't say, because it wasn't his place to do so. If Arthur had never figured it out, perhaps he never would. Or, maybe, this time around, everything really would be different.
"No," he said, brow creasing, confused. "Of course not. His loyalty was to you, always, Arthur. Even if it did get a bit muddled in the end. He loved you."
More needed to be said, would have been said, if not for some strange man blundering into their conversation. Nathan bit back an irritated greeting, double taking as he studied the man in front of them. His eyes narrowed slightly as memories bubbled and surfaced, his brain flicking through them, trying to find the right place.
"Who are you?" he asked, half to himself and half to the hapless man who just wandered into the hornet's nest.
