"No, no, I'm sorry-- I wish I could stay, I really do," she says, feeling as if she hasn't ever meant any words so strongly in her life. "But I'd really rather you weren't dead, and I have this funny feeling my mother would kill you. Both my parents, actually. And me." She takes the brownies with a little smile. "I'd much rather today end in brownies than a double murder."
