It was a glorious day, the sun was shining and the birds were singing. Or maybe the last part was in her head. But after weeks of being in the public eye almost constantly with the wedding and then the honeymoon she was ready for some time within the safety of the Palace walls. She was ready to be barefoot in one of the gardens, to be able to laugh brightly and not feel self conscious. So she sent a message to her friend, to invite her to the garden with her. And her wine. She had been to Mass. She had smiled and waved to the masses, and now she was in a more relaxed dress. Her hair was down, the jewelry was gone. She was barefoot in one of the Palace gardens.
There was a few loungers set out with a table. The wine was in a charmed wine holder that kept it at the proper temperature, snacks were out and there was music softly playing in the background. She reveled in the warmth from the sun and the sweet breeze as it entered the area. She knew there were still guards - but they were blissfully hidden out of sight. She new she was still within the safety of the Palace walls - but for this moment it was like she was out and not worried. It was a lovely feeling. Stopping by a bush that seemed to be almost climbing the walls, she smelled the sweetly floral smell of a wild Irish rose and her lips curled into a smile.
Making her way back to the wine and the loungers, she poured herself a glass of wine and sipped it, the sunlight glinting off the rings now on her left hand and once again making her blink and come up short. They were still surprising her at times - those rings. It wasn't as if she hadn't known the wedding was coming - but still. To be married to the King of Britannia, to be his queen, it was still sinking in a bit at times if she was completely honest with herself.
