"Yeah, I do know how a phone works," Ford said drily, mostly to cover his embarrassment. He probably should have called her already, or at least texted, but he hadn't been a particularly good headspace lately, and that had impeded pretty much everything he might have otherwise wanted to do. Or thought maybe he might want or like. "I'll call you. I will. I just—I'm meeting up with Thorne on Monday. And that will sort of...decide where I'm going from here. There's not much point in me staying if he's not going to talk to me."
And that was it. The truth that he hadn't really wanted to face for the last couple of weeks. He had that official second chance with his brother...but he had a feeling that was all he was going to get. "So yeah. I guess I'll leave you to your fishing for now?" He raised one hand to shield his face from the beginnings of the sunrise. "And talk to you again soon?"
