There were times like today - where the weather was bright and cheery, the sun was shining, the breeze was just about perfect - that Nora Adler took it upon herself to grab her radio, hook it to her belt, and take a walk around the grounds to see what she could see. It made sense to her, really. Walking the grounds meant that if something happened that wouldn't be seen until later, it meant she could catch them before anything resulted from them. Problems could be circumvented. New happenings could be recorded while they were happening. New data needed for the Reserve could be collected sooner.
She liked being outside anyway. It was more open. Freer. If Nora had her way she'd probably be outside more than she was inside when it came to working. So she'd taken the opportunity today to do just that. If they needed her for something, she could easily be called on the radio and apparate to the location they needed her at. She'd thought it all through every single time she took a walk like this.
Her heart and mind felt a little lighter as well. Though she and Teo were still keeping their marriage under wraps, keeping their whole relationship quiet for the time being, telling Finn had taken a bit of that weight she was feeling off her shoulders. She knew there'd be guilt - especially when it came to keeping it from her family - but she'd felt a little guilty about Teo having to keep it secret too. He needed someone to talk to, she was sure. In telling Finn, that opened the door to Matt and Teo being able to talk. Even if Matt was a No-Maj.
She'd have to tell Teo soon that he didn't have to hide it from them. That he had someone he could talk to if things got... stressful or too much for him. She just hoped that wouldn't be the case. That the two of them could talk about good things or things that didn't have anything to do with necessarily being married. Hell, maybe they could even do the whole double date thing, who knew?
As she walked, she fiddled with the gumball machine ring, worn on a thin chain around her neck even now. Nora knew she was tempting fate that way, but she couldn't help but be a little sentimental. She'd married Teo with this ring, after all. And it amused her to no end that his ring was a little purple unicorn.
There was always the possibility of running into someone on the grounds of the Reserve as she walked, but she was a little lost in thought at the moment. Her brain was a jumble of different ways this could go wrong. Ways this could go right. Hell, it was a jumble of the paperwork still sitting on her desk in her office.
The paperwork! Fuck. Nora knew she was in for it now. She'd have to stay late again and this time actually get it done.
