Hawthorne Proudfoot, partial vampire, has been held in contempt of court during today's judicial proceedings. While yesterday's testimony went without incident, this morning Proudfoot's one-word answers and uncooperative nature led the prosecution to label him a hostile witness during this second day of testimony.
Proudfoot was a vocal in his support of Lucy Economides and NABE prior to the bombing. Previously, he was arrested in NABE protests in Salem (Thanksgiving 2017) and New York City (July 2018) and was one of the lead voices to construct a memorial to commemorate the Ferris Lake Massacre. Many were surprised to learn that he was a witness for the prosecution by a previously published article by this newspaper.
The Ghost was able to reach Proudfoot by email yesterday evening. In response to queries, he wrote, "The organization I devoted years of my life to under the leadership of Lucy Economides would not have resorted to violent means. There were those that wished to move
in that direction, but Lucy was always quick to put a stop to that line of thinking. She planned to go into politics and make a difference. Why would she bomb the very institution she dreamed of joining?"
That is a very good question and one Economides lawyer should be asking. The trial should continue tomorrow morning with Proudfoot taking the stand for a third day in a row for cross-examination.
