Weekend finds veelas Cause Sharp Rise in Vegas Nuptials
By Linda Pride, Staff Writer
This past weekend, the Demimonde, the magical district in Las Vegas, saw a sharp rise in marriages, many of which are attributed to Émilie Resnick, a Veela cross-breed. While a typical Saturday night into Sunday morning may see upwards of seventy-five couplies tying the knot, officials from Deseret Territory disclosed that they issued a a total of 117 marriage licenses in the city.
Resnick, a performer at the Aura Resort, reportedly affected large swaths of unsuspecting individuals and caused them to escalate romantic plans.
She was likely not the only Veela cross-breed in the Demimonde, but the only one Registered with the Beings Registry Bureau that night. "Ms. Resnick meant no harm," said Karen Hunter, representative of the BRB, "but it does illustrate the important function the Registry of Individuals with Cross-bred Extraction (RICE). When incidents such as this occur it is useful to help pinpoint a cause."
Many know of the hypnotic abilities of Veelas, but a lesser-known ability occurs when several of Veela descent congregate and feed off a common emotion, thereby creating an echo chamber. Susceptible wizardingkind could experience a sudden onset of romantic ideals.
If you believe you or someone you know has been affected, please contact Deseret Territory officials.
