The ruse didn't last as long as he'd hoped it would, but Mateo was still highly amused at the events. He let her look around for a couple of minutes, happy to let her suffer in her confusion for a moment. He watched the way her blue eyes narrowed as she tried to spot him, and he knew that he was probably going to leave the store sporting a bruise on his arm. If he was lucky, it would only be the one. Nora had a fiery temper, after all.
With a shit eating grin, Mateo stepped out from his hiding place at the end of the aisle. "Alright, alright, you caught me." He'd almost wished that she hadn't caught on so quickly - messing with her like this was fun for him, and she'd gone and cut it short. Rude. "I'm sorry, you know I can't resist trying to mess with you."
He did enjoy a good prank, and he supposed she did have the advantage of knowing him for as long as she had. It also didn't help that it wasn't the first time he'd pulled something like this on her. Making his way down the aisle, he sat his basket down on the floor before he picked her up in a tight bear hug, before setting her back down again.
