The move from Santa Monica to Snowcap was not going nearly as smoothly as Mateo had hoped. You would think that, when hiring a magical moving company, that you wouldn't have near the amount of issues you would with a no-maj one. Clearly Mateo was mistaken, because he was still missing most of the things that belonged in his kitchen, on top of a bunch of odds and ends throughout the house. Most of it he could live without, but he really would like to have his pots and pans so that he could cook a proper dinner for himself.
Of course, that didn't stop him from walking through the doors of McDermott's General. He wasn't going to need much, so he grabbed himself a handbasket, and started roaming the aisles. A few of the staples made their way into his basket - sour gummy worms, his favorite whiskey, and apples. He also picked up necessities, like cereal and milk - things that he didn't necessarily need to cook to get by. He tossed in a pack of paper plates for good measure, and was beginning to wonder if maybe he should've grabbed a cart when it happened.
It was her perfume that hit him, first. Amber and Argon, from that no-maj store she liked so much. Bath something. Not that Teo had made it a point to remember that, or anything. Nope. Not at all. Still, it didn't take him long to find her, unsurprisingly down the baking aisle, looking at the brownie mixes.
Peeking at her from around the corner, Mateo was struck by how much she'd changed in the eight or so months since he'd seen her last. God, had it really been that long since he'd been up here on a proper visit? Shaking his head, he thought about just walking up to her, but where would be the fun in that, hmm? Instead, in true Mateo fashion, he took one of the apples out of his basket and levitated it into her cart while her back was turned.
