Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:bart allen, virgil hawkins

Who: Bart and Virgil
What: They need cute things after all the wangst.
When: TODAY
Where: their apartment probably, Virgils afraid to go out.
Warnings: F is for fluff.

Virgil hadn't slept naturally in six days and ten hours. He was scared. He knew he shouldn't be but he couldn't help it. The memories that played in his mind like a broken record terrified him and refused to stop. When Bart was around things were a little better, his voice distracted him from the screaming and hissing vampire timbre. But if he left even for a minute Virgil felt alone and terrified. He hated being so dependent and detached but there had been so much blood. His mind refused to listen to logic. By acting this way he was letting them win. He knew it was right but his body wouldn't listen, he was to scared and too tired.

Dressed in a pair of comfortable pajamas he walked the length of the apartment. He had to get in a little exercise or he'd go insane..er. But moroe than that and he didn't know what would happen. He couldn't leave. They were still out there. They could be anywhere, torturing and killing..and the thought of it made him feel ill. If he could hold a charge things might be different, but he barely could. He even tried tapping into the electricity of the building and nothing. He didn't know what was wrong, but he didn't like it. It only added to his already horrible feeling of vulnerability and Virgil found himself standing on their balcony looking up at the sky. He wondered how long it would be before he could really feel like himself again. He wondered about Chloe, but couldn't for too long because then he'd match her face to the screaming voice in his head. Then the violent memories would come back.

Some days were better then others, this for example was one of the good ones. He went outside all by himself. It was only on their balcony but it was an improvement from refusing to leave the security of the bedroom. Virgil stared out at the city listlessly. He was able to manipulate tiny amounts of electricity still, but it was weak. They hovered in the empty air infront of him. The shape and layout of the building he remembered. They weren't in great detail, but unmistakeably the building he couldn't get out of his mind.

He hadn’t been outside of the apartment building since Virgil had been rescued and brought back. Bart didn’t want to leave. He couldn’t, not when his friend was like he was, suffering and unable to sleep without hearing screams that nobody else could hear. Not knowing if there was a right way to deal with something like this, he did what he could and hoped that Virgil would respond positively to him. Staying by his side was the least he could do. That part was easy.

Sitting, watching, talking; those three activities took up most of his days and nights. Never had Bart been involved in a situation that mirrored the one he was currently stuck in. Not even Lex had been as hard on him as the psycho corpses had been on Virgil. Mere minutes, that’s how long it had taken him to recover after hours of being left alone to run — literally — for his life. He could barely imagine how long it was going to take Virgil, after spending days being tortured in the dark. The answer was beyond reach. He could only wonder and take guesses that he didn’t want to come up with.

Their door wasn’t about to be opened up and walked out of, but Bart was still dressed with nowhere to go. His red sneakers made no sound on the carpet and his hoodie had been unzipped and thrown over a chair an hour ago. Out in the open, where Virgil could still see him, his laptop was open and glowing in the dim light. He stared at the screen but quickly growing bored with what he saw, he was up again and walking off to join Virgil on the balcony.

The sliding door he left open. Barely felt in the heat of the city, the air conditioning spilled out from beyond the glass, rising up to evaporate before it could do much of anything. Quietly, he slipped in beside Virgil and leaned up against the front of the balcony.

“All of it will come back.” He took to watching the electricity drift, the tiny bit of it that was there to see.

Virgil hardly spent time on his computer these days. It used to be fun and something he enjoyed, but the boards were filled with idiots and vampires. More of the later, and his heart wasn't ready to handle it yet. His mind was in a dark place and he felt like he was drowning between the two. He couldn't even remember the last time he really felt like himself. Days like the one they were experiencing would have normally filled him with energy. Sun and cloudless skys. His friends back home used to tease and call him solar powered. Which was really ironic when it came down to the nitty gritty details of how his powers actually worked-but none of them knew he was Static so it wouldn't have been funny if he agreed.

Bart came up behind him but he didn't panic or even flinch so that was an improvement all in it's own. Day by day he was getting better, even if he couldn't see it with his fear clouded eyes. Bart staying by his side was helping. Without him Virgil never would have gotten through the recovery process. He would have still been hidden in the bedroom to scared to come out. It was hot out, but Virgil's powers were sun based and it was helping him feel better. So he didn't mind the slight uncomfortable stick of clothing against his caramel colored skin.

"Twenty volts." He stated as he looked over at Bart with a tiny frown. He hated feeling so hopeless and sore. It wasn't like him at all. Virgil was a person who was naturally full of joy, being this sad made him feel vulnerable and worse. He lowered his hands and sank down next to Bart. "Electricity isn't fire you know. " He had to make it clear after Kon's off handed attempt to tell him what his own power was. He knew better than anyone. "It's energy..it's everywhere you just can't see it."

When Bart came close enough he leaned against him and rested his cheek gently on his shoulder. " I hate this.."
