He was sure that at the airport, he had come off as paranoid and overprotective. That wasn't a change from his normal behaviour, but he could usually hide that from her and not make it so obvious. Since then, Jacob had the chance to calm down a bit and go back to his usual level of being paranoid.
"Hey, I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to get shorter. I'm an Alpha, y'know," he said, flexing his arms before he scooped her up onto his back when he saw where she was leading him. "I bet it was just all that expensive New York food. I'm sure Aunt Rose only got the best for you."
As much as he loved trading insults with the blonde, he appreciated her existence. If there was anyone that he trusted Nessie's life with, aside from her parents and him, it was Rosalie. It was why he had been more than okay when Emmett had asked her to stay behind with him and Nessie.
