Maria Warrington wore an exasperated look, her eager father pointing at shop windows and suggestion she try on some new robes. She didn't want new robes, and rolled her eyes in protest. "Pop, this is so pointless, can't I just go home and sleep? I'm tired..." She was always cranky and exhausted for a day or two after the full moon, and he always insisted she push through it instead of just letting her get her rest. The hospital staff at St. Mungo's agreed with him, unfortunately, and so for almost ten years - exactly ten years on the 20th of August, actually - he had taken a day or two off of work every month to drag her about to every event and meeting he could come up with. Muggle amusement parks (much to his own distaste), public pools, day trips to the country side, shopping...
They were just past Madam Malkin's robes shop when she put her foot down and stuck out her bottom lip and looked every inch a pouting 16-year-old. "Pop! I don't want to shop today!" She nearly shrieked, causing his face to fall in guilt and disappointment. That look from him softened her the smallest bit but not enough to get her walking again. "I'm just tired is all..." she added, nearly defeated by his kind intentions.
They stood, the summer crowd moving around them, both at a loss for words and not knowing what to do next.
