He wondered where the switch was in James that made him go from civil to prat-like in the blink of an eye. He also wondered how he managed to keep poking it.
Not wanting to argue about how the kids left them few other choices when it came to talking with them, he didn't comment on James' opinion on Albus being pulled into Ginny's office. For all anyone else knew, they were speaking of work related things. It was a perfectly logical assumption for people to make. He also was very aware of the chance that Molly would kill them.
Most of all, though, he was worn out and longed to find a bit of peaceful ground with his sons. He wanted everyone to know about the divorce. He wanted a whole day where nothing stressful happened. Preferably, he wanted those things before hell froze over.
"All I know is what I told you. You asked me how we were handling the press. Your mother wants to write something for them. If you don't agree with that, talk to your mother or feel free to tell me right now and I'll pass it on to her and we can come up with some other game plan," he replied tiredly. "But I'm glad you're watching out for your brother."
Of course he couldn't stop himself from worrying. He tried to show it less as they got older, but that didn't always work.
