While it was nice to see everyone, Rose felt the loss of every family member who wasn't there, particularly Gran and Gramps. She missed the warm of the kitchen in the Burrow and Gramps' tinkering in the garage between lunch and dinner. Things at Uncle Percy and Aunt Audrey was much fancier than the past Weasley holiday gatherings.

With a shake of her head, Rose pushed the sad thoughts away in favor of focusing on the happy ones as Dr. Keller told her to do. She picked up her mug of hot chocolate and crossed over to her oldest uncle.

"Happy Christmas, Uncle Bill. How are you?"

It was the first Chrstmas without Fleur. The first Christmas without his parents. Luckily not the first one not at the Burrow or it might had been too much. He well remembered the weirdness of celebrating Christmas at Godric's Hollow last year, but Harry and Ginny had done a good job, and so had Percy and Audrey for that matter.

Not that he ever expected differently from his brother, he always had been a perfectionist. The smiled, looking around the room. In spite of all they'd lost, they were still there, still together. That alone was worth celebrating.

When Rose walked up he smiled at her. "Happy Christmas," he said. "I'm good, and you? Getting better?" He knew what Rose was going through was complex and well Muggle, but he still hoped that the chocolate he'd given her for Christmas would help.

Sipping on the hot chocolate, she nodded. It was a very slow process, but there was progress. Rose already decided as soon as the holidays were over, she was getting a job. Her days felt too empty lately.

"I'm fine," she answered. "And yes, I'm getting better. It's just slow going." She could only imagine how frustrating it was for those around her considering how frustrating it has been for her.

She took another sip of her drink. "You know you are one of the most difficult people to shop for?"

"Take the time you need and don't feel rushed," Bill said. "We'll all be here for you through it all, you know that. So what are your plans?" he added, hoping she had some and he hadn't just said something he shouldn't.

He laughed when she went on though, shaking his head. "Me?" he asked. "Really? I'm the easiest man in the world. Buy me anything with an arithmancy puzzle or pyramid on and I'm happy," he said with a wink. "You couldn't give me something that I don't like," he said. "You should know that by now."

She did know that her family was there for her. However, they weren't who she wanted by her side through all of it. "Right now, make it through the holidays," Rose said, letting out a small sigh. "After that, look for a more permanent job. I'm helping Fred and George out with their books, but I need something that occupies more of my time."

Hearing him chuckle made her give a small smile. Which is why you received an obscure university level mathematics textbook, Rose replied in her head. "So I'll just bring you coal next year."

Smiling, he nodded. "Have you thought about what you want to do?" he asked, because that was usually the first and best place to start when looking for a job.

He laughed. "I must have missed where coal has anything at all to do with Arithmancy," he teased before smiling. "I'm sure whatever you got me is absolutely wonderful."

"I'll even remember to tell you so after I've opened it," he added with a wink.

She had thought about it and with the help of Dr. Keller had come up with a few ideas. "I was thinking about publishing, like a position as a fact checker," she said. "Since I enjoy books so much I thought I might enjoy getting them published."

She sipped on her hot chocolate and chuckled. "You said I couldn't give you something that you don't like, so I picked something that no one likes because if I gave it you, you would like it." Rose meant it as a joke; she obviously needed lessons from her current employers. "It was a joke."

While the gift wasn't exactly arithmancy, it was complex puzzles which she hoped he would like.

"That's brilliant," Bill said with a wide smile at her announcement. "And perfect for you," he added. "Have you contacted any companies yet?" he asked.

Rolling his eyes at her joke, he shook his head. "Very funny," he teased. "You're sure you're not getting a future in comedy?" He grinned. "With everything opening up in Dorinta, I'm sure one or two of them might take people on."

Hearing her uncle's enthusiasm at the idea of publishing, Rose gave a slightly bigger smile. Well, at least one person doesn't think it is crazy. The thought was planted some time ago and this was the first time she spoke the words out loud. "Not yet. I figured most places wouldn't want someone sending their resume over the holidays, so I'm going to wait until after the first of the year."

Rose shook her head at him. The joke was obviously bad if she had to explain it. "I think there are enough comedians in the Weasley family."

She drank the last of her hot chocolate. "What about you? Will you being staying at the Department of Mysteries for another year?"

"Good call," he said. "See you're already making decisions. You must be getting better," he added brightly, ignoring her next comment.

"You're doing good Rose," he said instead. "You'll see that things will work out for the best." He didn't add that for the best in his book meant that she could get out of the marriage to the man who had abandoned her. Somehow he didn't think it would be appreciated.

He nodded at the question. "Provided that Percy will have me," he said with a grin, not doubting that it was the case. "I like it more than I thought I would, and have no desire at the moment to go back to Gringotts."

He looked up when he saw his brother aproaching, smiling at her when he looked back at her. "I think someone else wants a word with you right about now," he said, leaning down and giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Take care Rose, and good luck with the job search."
