"Oh baby." Magdalene still wasn't sure how to take this news, but the look in her daughter's eyes when she looked at her like that - she hated seeing that, and touched Marlene's cheek tenderly.
And then Marlene started trying to explain things, or she did in her own way, and thankfully Magdalene had years of experience dealing with Marlene and her explanations so she was able to follow easily enough as she was told about her daughter being named Head Auror, and Alastor, she knew him. "Monogamous? Really?" That was the biggest surprise of everything she was being told. She'd always had high expectations for her daughters, that Marlene had been named head Auror was not nearly so surprising as it might have been for someone else. "I would hope I'd taught you better not to go doing something like that for someone who wasn't worth it."
They died. On Marlene's birthday, that was just ... their home was supposed to be safe. "Thirty three?" She asked after a moment to process that. "And I've missed it all." She shook her head. "How is your sister? She's older now too?" Magdalene still wasn't sure how this all worked, but she trusted her daughter more than she trusted anyone else. "There's time for all of it."
