Summary: Stephen wants to celebrate

Stephen had received the letter the day before, and had told Azriel, but they had been too busy working and by the time they finished, it was too later to really party. Today though, he was making plans to celebrate. Nothing crazy, because he really didn't have the energy for crazy, but a nice night together, with food, drinks, and sex. In fact, he planned to spend the night at Azriel.

He made it out of the Ministry after Azriel, and stopped for a bottle of champagne, even thought he was sure that Azriel would be more than willing to provide a bottle. From the store, he Apparated straight to the house. Stephen found Floot first, and gave the house elf the bottle, before finally finding Azriel. He didn't waste time with words, but instead, he kissed him, pulling Azriel close. "Mmm, how does it feel to be kissing a single man again?"

It had been a day like any other, except that he'd been waiting for Stephen to do more than say something about the fact that he wasn't married any more. He knew Stephen, better than he knew himself in some ways, and yet the other man had surprised him the night by doing absolutely nothing once the annulment was finalised.

He really had to do something about Stephen's workaholic tendencies one of these days.

Therefore he was somewhat relieved a day later when he heard Stephen and leaned in to the kiss without any resistance, thinking that this was more familiar territory. He was surprised at how different it did feel but then Azriel had never liked the extra complication of marriage. It reminded him of his own family's matrimonial issues and Azriel had never liked thinking of his own family or finding any similiarity between himself and his father's mistress.

"Much better," he said truthfully. "Although waiting a full twenty four hours to celebrate was stretching my admittedly questionable patience very thin."

Stephen chuckled. "I know, and I'm sorry, but it would have been rather obvious if I told everyone to go home so we could celebrate. I'm pretty sure that Belvina would have called us a few names, even if in her very polite way. I'm pretty sure she's decided that we're degenerates, most of our generation is."

He leaned down again to nip Azriel's lip. "I know this hasn't been easy on you, but really Andromeda and I haven't been a couple since Hogwarts, since we had to stop pretending for her sister. She moved out of my room as soon as we decided to get the annulment, before even sending the papers."

He grinned. "So what would you like to do? You get to pick. Floot says he can make dinner and I brought champagne, or we can go out, or we can just go for your bedroom and we can have a midnight snack."

"I don't actually care about being obvious if it means I get what I want," Azriel replied, a smile tugging at his lips. "As for Belvina, I'm sure she disapproves of us all anyway so forgive me if I don't cry myself to sleep, wishing for her blessing."

He shook his head. "It was nothing to do with me. Your marriage, your mess. I just didn't like being an added complication. I've never been one for extramarital affairs and I never thought I would be put in that position."

"Champagne?" Azriel smiled a little brighter. "I really don't mind but seeing as you've been single for over a day, we should probably fuck and then eat."

Stephen tilted his head. "Really? So are you ready to come out? Because you know I can't do that to my mother, not now," he answered. "Actually, can we not discuss this right now? I just got out of an arranged marriage, we're dealing with an hex that we don't know what can do to us. Can we just enjoy today."

He snorted. "Except that you're the only one who cared about it. Neither Andromeda and I did, and I doubt she expected fidelity when we weren't shagging or even living in the same suite."

He chuckled. "Now, that's a much better idea. We can even enjoy the moment and walk all the way to your room," he joked.

"I didn't say that," Azriel wasn't sure it was anybody's business if he came out or not but he knew Stephen had more weight on his shoulders when it came to society. Azriel had nobody to answer to and Patrick was well aware of his preferences. "I only meant that you could have made up some excuse to finish early yesterday. It wasn't a dig or anything of the sort."

"It meant something," He shrugged awkwardly. "Too many memories, I suppose, and it was very easy to pick out similarities I didn't care for."

Azriel leaned up to kiss Stephen almost lazily, taking his time. "Walk? How shocking," he teased. "I'm glad you came over."

"I know; I'm sorry. I'm just tired and this marriage wasn't one of my happiest moment. Too many things to explain to too many people, including coming out to my parents," he said with a sigh. "I just want to put it behind me and enjoy today."

Stephen nodded. "It meant something to you, and that's why I apologised to you. I would say that you could have spoken about it, but I know better than to do that."

He pressed his forehead against Azriel's. "I'm glad to be here. You know I was talking to Andromeda once and I was trying to explain that a lot of times I mean to do things and then work gets in the way and I forget. It's not that I don't want to spend time with you, it's just that I get so absorbed, and you get it. You've always known it. You can remind me. It's just us now. He straightened up and took Azriel's hand. "Let's go to bed."
