Summary: Neville makes his apologies

Rose's owl and news had been a wake up call.   He'd been too long gone and too enclosed away from everyone and everything other than Hogwarts and his immediate family.   No, he wasn't ready for a lot of things, his mood fluctuated routinely as did his opinions of people, but that was no excuse for dropping off the face of the earth.   Apologies and an explanation, as best he could give, were long overdue.

Dear Jamie and Sirius:

I wish to apologize for my unexplained absence and anti-social behaviour.    There is no other explanataion for it other than the truth, which is I can't seem to be my usual self anymore.  This most recent war, or maybe it and the one before have taken a toll I didn’t predict. My outlook which I once considered to be fairly stable and along the lines of 'take things as they come' has changed to fairly dark and gloomy, as has my opinion of most of humantiy.   This is no ones fault or doing but my own, and I mean to overcome it. I just haven't been capable of managing that for very long yet.

As a result or side effect, I have been neglectful of family and I'm sorry.

I hope you can bear with me and forgive me until I get to that point where I am more myself, the person I was and want to be.

Dear Neville,

Don't worry about it. I assumed that you were busy with school. I know how Hogwarts can be and since Al and Severus didn't show at the house warming either, I guessed that things were a little more chaotic than usual.

I'm not sure how anti-social and thinking that people are shit are related. People are shit, that doesn't mean you have to have to avoid them, just learn not to tell them what idiots they are. Really, it's easy once you learn.

Dear Neville,

You'd think this was the first time anyone got caught up in life the way you're talking. Things have been busy for everyone, neither Hermione nor I can blame you for anything.

We know this war has affected everyone in different ways and you're entitled to take care of yourself and your family before anything else. So don't worry about it, we'll see you when you're feeling better.
