Kat read the letter with a shout of excitement and for the next half hour she was every bit of a teenager, drinking champagne and dancing around the house in the most undignified way. Once composed again, she wrote the one person who had supported her through all this, and even as she wrote it was hard to keep the smile off her face.

Dear Cassandra,

I'm Miss Yaxley again. In fact, from today, I've never been married at all. I can't even begin to tell you how relieved I am, but I think you if anyone will understand me even when words fail.

This calls for a celebration. How about a trip to a spa in Italy for a week? Is there any chance at all to persuade you to take some time off?

Dear Katherine,

Congratulations. I'm happy to hear you're free of that reminder. Celebration is certainly in order. The Stables do not require my full attention due to the weather of late, however, there are still plans to be made for the holidays and then Twelfth Night. I cannot take an entire week away at the moment, but perhaps two or three days?
