Happy Birthday Daddy!

I wish I could come around to the house today to wish you a happy birthday in person but they're keeping me busy with training, we have a big game coming up soon. You are going to come right? I'd like it if you'd be there.

We should do dinner sometime soon. You can come by the flat and see it properly. Let me know when works for you, I'll try and make my schedule work.

I wish you could come over too, but I understand how important this is and of course I'll be there for you. I can't wait to see you play.

He stared at the letter he had so far, debating if he should continue or not. Did he write that he had a date? That he was bringing a friend? Or nothing at all? She'd likely see Hestia, so it was either date or friend and he could see downsides with both. In the end though, he might as well be honest about it.

I'm bringing someone with me, a date. Her name is Hestia and she's an old friend who recently returned. We'll be routing for you.

Dom was more than surprised by her father's reply to her letter, reading the words again and again. She shouldn't feel strange about it, she told herself. Her father deserved some happiness, but all she could think about was her mother. Her father should be at the match with her mother, they should be there together - and instead there was going to be some other woman there. She felt her eyes sting and wiped the feeling away, clutching the letter from her father tight for a few minutes before she got a new piece of parchment to send reply.
