If he'd thought he was uncomfortable before, seeing the little looks and touches between his father and Charlie multiplied that uncomfortableness tenfold. It reminded him of how he used to look at Megan, and knowing that his father felt that way about Charlie, even if he hadn't said as much, was really, really weird.
And then...he was pretty sure he blacked out for a minute, because he could have sworn his father just asked him for permission to marry Charlie. To marry a guy. He looked between the two men, and realized that yes, he really had just heard that. Been asked that. His father, his hero, wanted to marry a man.
He opened his mouth, but instead of saying anything he reached for the wine and drank half a glass in one go. He tried to remain calm, and remembered a conversation with his father months ago when he;'d told him that he supported him in whatever this thing was with Charlie. Apparently, this thing was marriage, and he knew he father would never contemplate this if he was anything less than serious. If he wasn't in love. And fuck, that was weird and made him even more uncomfortable than knowing his father was fucking men less than half his age.
Realizing that his father and Charlie were waiting for an answer, he finished the wine in his glass and tried to smile. "Of course you have my blessing," he said, and even meant it. If marrying Charlie would make his father happy, how could he be anything less than accepting. "I told you before that I want you to be happy, and that you have my support. That goes for this too."
